Doc's Seafood and Steaks — Restaurant in Corpus Christi

This place absolutely rocks! We were a walk-in party of 13 that came in at 8:45 pm (they close @9:30) Not ideal and we felt bad because there was already a wait and we were fully prepared to get turned away and go into corpus to find a place open. The hostess asked us if we were with a party and we told her No, we were walk-ins and she replied, Even Better and that we would be sat asap! I wish I could remember her name because she was so accommodating to us!

As we get sat, around 9:15 or so we are greeted by Bethany with nothing but smiles. I gotta tell you, the service the young lady gave us was absolutely phenomenal! We weren’t waiting for drinks or anything really from the get go. When I say she was on top of it, I truly mean that! She gave great suggestions from the menu which I’ll get too but I really needed to just brag on her for a moment. Big party after a long shift at the end of the night. You wouldn’t have known it, but everyone and I mean everyone in my family were just in awe of the service. Keep it up!

Food: the portions were generous for the price which was an initial concern but after seeing the plates I wasn’t mad at all. I had the mahi mahi tacos which weren’t on the menu but when I asked how the yellow fin tuna tacos were she suggested those and it was an immediate yes! I received 3 nice sized tacos Had a little kick to them but not over powering and the rice that came on the side helped my pallet enjoy each scrumptious bite. My wife split the Coastal Bacon Wrapped shrimp and the crab cake. They enjoyed their meal and the only thing about shrimp is that they would want a creamy sauce to dip. The crab cake seemed a little small compared to everything else we received so nothing special to write about there. Momma got the chicken fried steak, I know I know-but she isn’t a seafood lover and said the batter was nice and light and also had a great flavor to it. Kids ate burgers and I’m assuming they loved them cause there wasn’t anything to take home!

It was around 10:15 pm and we were the last customers there and Bethany and the crew told us to enjoy our meals and take our time. They started closing up the inside of the restaurant which we had absolutely zero problems with. When we received our checks. Everything was in order and we noticed that there was No Gratuity added which was a little surprising considering how big our party was. So yes my Momma was walking out she thanked Bethany and said don’t worry, my children will take great care of you. Which I think we did, think all of us gave her well over 30% because the service, ambiance and food was just that good!

Not only does Doc’s Seafood have incredible food, but it also offers unobstructed views of the water and magnificent sunsets. If you haven’t been to Doc’s, I highly recommend you go. Right on the water, this open-air restaurant is a gem of a place with a casual, coastal atmosphere that offers some of the best seafood in Corpus Christi.

The food is truly phenomenal! For our appetizer, we had Doc’s Seafood Queso, which was so delicious, and for our main entrees, we had the Coastal Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp and the Grilled Coconut Shrimp, which were prepared to prefection. I highly recommend both!

The customer service at Doc’s is impressive. Our attentive and pleasurable waiter made the dining experience all the more enjoyable. His knowledge of the menu and recommendations were spot on, he kept our glasses filled, and was a wonderful conversationalist. Not once did we lack any service. The customer service at Doc’s was truly a pleasure.

For dessert, we shared the Fried Cheesecake. Have you had Doc’s fried cheesecake? If not, drop everything, get to Doc’s, and order some now. There’s nothing more scrumptious than cheesecake wrapped in a cinnamon tortilla, then fried and topped with chocolate syrup and served with vanilla ice cream. This decadent dessert is divine. I encourage you to order the cheesecake when you dine at Doc’s. I still think of it all the time. It’s that heavenly.

As you dine, enjoy the views, the call of the seagulls, and the bay breeze. You may even get lucky and see the dolphins swimming in the bay near the restaurant. They made an appearance during our visit and we watched them while we enjoyed our appetizers. It was a memorable dining experience.

We waited for over an hour for a table for 4 after hearing this was the best of Corpus Christi. It was right on the ocean and the view was amazing. First, the only way to get to the restaurant is up steep stairs. It looked like there was downstairs seating but we were told the restaurant was on the top floor. While we waited, we decided to try whiskey and coke and I tried the mohito. The whiskey coke drink was almost all liquor. The mojito was mostly lime and liquor. I love a strong drink, but the main flavor was booze. We were nearly skipped because the hostess was using 2 methods of seating people. Some had the square buzzer that lights up when the table is ready, we were told to wait for a text that didn't arrive until my daughter went in to see where we were on the list. Our server was welcoming, but difficult to hear over the noise. Once our drinks were served, when we went to order, we learned they were out of crawfish which is what my husband and daughter wanted. I ordered the stuffed flounder and my daughter decided to order that as well. It took forever for our food to be served. The flounder, which normally has a soft texture and buttery flavor, was crispy and smothered in a sauce. The crab that was supposed to be in the flounder had the taste and consistency of canned tuna fish. I ate some and asked my husband to eat the rest. My daughter was also disappointed in her fish because it was mushy. My husband said his burger was nothing special. My son said his chicken tenders were alright. The server didn't come back by to see if we needed refills, if we liked our food, or needed to go boxes. She did swing by with the check and picked up the credit card in a timely manner.
