A few weeks ago, coming back from a visit to Padre Island I stumbled on this place, and picked up 4 pompano fish. They weren’t the freshest, but were decent, we had broiled for dinner. Today I returned in order to pick up some “fresh fish”, I saw that they have some maquereau. I asked the person there if those were fresh (not defrosted and put in ice)and from our golf she said yes. I asked her to give me 2 Lbs, she put 6 fish in a zip lock bag, I figured that were not enough for my family, I told her to add a few more. They were only 7 left, she propose to take them all. I replied so be it. But when I asked for cleaning, she reply we don’t clean them. I was confused as they did clean my 4 pompanos on my last purchase. Since I had already sat my mind on them, I figured I’ll just clean them myself. I grabbed also their 3 ouster tacos meal, ate it them and drove straight home 17 minutes drive to clean & marinate the fish and have it ready for dinner. To my horror when I started opening the belly of the fish, the guts were so rotten they were liquid and smell like pus. The flesh on the bone was so friable, that with the most possible gentle handling it breaks apart, in short the fish was unusable The stench was so bad that. I couldn’t even put the fish in garbage, I had to get a shovel and dug a whole in backyard and burry them, hence burying my $44.04 I paid for them. There is no way that those fish were fresh. Most likely they defrosted them and put them inside the ice, pretending they were fresh...
Read moreNo price signs for live/fresh seafood. The sign also said they charge 3% for credit card transaction to keep the prices low. I think that is not right because the prices here is higher than places I’ve been to with the same quality that they can cover the fees, not the customers.
I was told salmon was 11.99/lb. The guy said he will get the filet for me. I agreed because I thought it was the same price. Then I realized the total was not right when I walked out the door. And I didn’t get a receipt. I came back to ask for the receipt and was informed that $16.99/lb for the filet and whole salmon is $11.99/lb. Products cannot be returned once you walked out of the door. I suggest management should start putting up price signs and be more transparent. We have to ask prices for each product and no receipt provided at the end, get rid of 3% transaction fees, and have a 2 lines for live seafood and cooked food. But since the store is so small that 2 lines may not be possible, but at least have a line so people don’t scatter all over not knowing who is next in line. Overall, this will be my first and the last time. So management needs to take my suggestions to provide better customers shopping...
Read moreRude, rude, rude. Wife and I are visiting CC and Port Aransas from out of town and wanted to buy a nice piece of fish to cook for our dinner. First off nothing that is displayed on ice is marked as to what it is and price is NOT marked. I asked the lady to tell me what fish they had and her rude response was “there are many” which I took as she was too lazy to answer any of my questions or make any effort to assist. Furthermore there was music playing very loud overhead made it impossible to hear her and when I commented that I could not hear her she never moved, looked at me and just smiled. It was obvious she was not interested in my business. We left. We have bought from seafood markets from Texas to Florida and never been in a market where what they were selling was not marked or priced. It appears that they price depending on what they think you will pay. Worst experience ever. Good luck if you buy from this market.
To the owners response. We had your market in our plans weeks in advance of our trip. Your manager ruined those plans and any future opportunity for my business. We won’t return. We purchased our seafood elsewhere. You only...
