My boyfriend and I came in at 7:33pm and they close at 8pm. We waited for a little bit at the start of the line and then a bald man came out with the cook standing behind him and asked what we wanted. I ordered my plate and he said “oh by the way, we close at 8 so I’m just letting y’all know if y’all wanna order food that’s on y’all”. So I said, “okay, what does that mean? Are you telling us that if we are eating and it turns 8pm that you’re going to kick us out?” And he shrugged his shoulders and said “Well, I’m telling y’all that we close at 8.” So we said “okay, then I guess we’ll leave.” and we left.
It is unfortunate that this employee was so rude to us because we had never been here before and we were excited to eat here after both of us had long days at work. We knew the place closed at 8pm, and considering it was only us 2 in the building (the whole place was empty other than the employees) we didn’t think it would be an issue for us to eat our plates before they closed. I believe the way the man spoke to us was very rude and unprofessional. I was excited to try a new BBQ place and spread the word about it but now I will have to share this...
Read moreOrdered the 5 meat plate to try it out since it was highly reviewed. When I asked for the fatty brisket, they seemed confused but complied. They scraped ALL of the bark off and gave me bare meat. It was moist but ruined. It was cut half with the grain as well. The sausage was dry. The turkey was dryer than it needed to be. The ham was a pressed into an oval product, it was decent. The ribs were minimally seasoned and dry. The sauce was good, convenient because the meat does not stand up on it's own and you need the sauce. The beans were not seasoned well at all, more like plain beans in the cooking water than anything resembling bbq beans. The cole slaw was minimally flavored. I cannot believe that so many people rated this place so high, it is some of the worst BBQ I've ever had. Save your money and get some chain BBQ from Rudys...
Read moreThe very best brisket and sausage. Better than Cotten/Mr Gs. Not salty at all. Cottons is way too salty. Also the brisket is far better quality here at BBQ Man. Better then Salt Lick. Now that I’ve found this place, I’m never eating Cottens again. The portions are big and price is right. We got way more food here for a fraction of what we pay for same amount Of food at Cottens/ Mr Gs. Way better than Hogemyers as well. They won’t disappoint. Next time I have family/friends from out of state or town I’m bringing them here. This place has been here since the 70s and it shows. From the decor to the music to the long standing recipes. The age of this bbq joint speaks for itself. It does get super crowded during lunch. So beat the lunch crowd or go right after lunch. You won’t be...
