After seeing the progress and construction on the building for almost a year, I was so excited to try this place. Granted, I went on their opening week and they were busy, so I have relative understanding. But I honestly had a terrible experience here. I found it to be very un - dog friendly. And the service I got sitting outside was slow and took me going inside several times to make sure they even remembered I was out there. This was after being asked to go outside with my dog and that someone would come and help me(which, I get, but at least still provide me adequate outdoor service). The service and atmosphere felt pretentious, and I literally waited a half hour for service & a single drink - that was sub par. I had to then track someone down again for my check because no one came to check on me after I finally got my drink. It’s a modern look - which was clean and relatively nice, but also very boring and dry. No plants or soft touches anywhere. Anyways, I much prefer Ex Novo and will not be going back here...

The three of sat at table at 9PM Saturday. It was wasn’t super busy, but well attended. Two tables next to us sat down a few minutes later. Two waitresses looked at us and passed us by, and helped the two tables next to us. They received their drinks, and we still had yet to be served. We had been siting there for 15min. We flagged down a third waitress, and that’s when one of the first took notice and told the waitress we flagged down that she could have us. How nice of her. The young girl was nice and took our order. Another 17min goes by and we still didn’t have our drinks. I went to the bar where she was, our drinks were still not even on deck. I told her to cancel our order and we left.
On a side note, we asked to speak to the GM because we were interested in inquiring about a private event. He was supposed to come talk to us and that never happened...

All the components exist for an awesome hangout joint, but where the Sandia Bar falls short is service, staffing, and consistent hours. Often you have to flag down the staff for a drink or walk up to the bar to order. I've sat and watched multiple staff members walk by tables with empty glasses without even an acknowledgement. Friendliness varies widely, with many interactions being cold and curt.
Hours are terribly inconsistent. You can't trust their posted hours -- which are already kind of weird -- because they'll close early on a whim.
The usual reasons are given for the above issues (staffing challenges, people out sick, etc.). Those are simply excuses for issues a good management team could solve quickly. Ultimately they will struggle if they can't fix...
