⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ **The Wiggling Pig is an absolute gem!** From the moment I walked in, I was impressed with the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff, especially our waitress Leah, were incredibly friendly and attentive. Leah was super awesome and went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect, making the experience even better. Now, let’s talk about the food—specifically, the BBQ brisket sandwich. It was hands down one of the best BBQ sandwiches I’ve ever had! The brisket was tender and juicy, with just the right amount of smoky flavor that left me craving more. The BBQ sauce complemented the meat perfectly without overpowering it, and the sandwich was generously portioned. Each bite was a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The sides were just as impressive. I had the coleslaw and baked beans, both of which were fresh and delicious. The coleslaw was crisp and tangy, a great contrast to the rich brisket, and the baked beans had a deep, smoky flavor that was out of this world. Overall, the combination of amazing food, top-notch service (shoutout to Leah!), and a cozy atmosphere makes The Wiggling Pig a place I can’t recommend enough. Whether you're a BBQ lover or just looking for a great meal, you won’t be disappointed. This is definitely a spot I'll be returning to again and again!

I usually have Mexican food when I stop in Cortez, and it never disappoints, but I wanted to try something different tonight, and I'm glad I did. The Wigglin' Pig is AWESOME! I wanted to try several different items, and a picture of the flour tortilla taco sold me. The tortillas are thick and delicious, them what they put inside makes it out of this world! I tried the pork belly, the pulled pork and carne asada tacos. All very different flavors, and all 3 were fantastic! My favorite was the pork belly followed by the the carne asada. The pulled pork was great too, but I bet it's even better as a BBQ sandwich. The place itself is not fancy and what you expect from a family owned small town restaurant. There's plenty of room and quiet enough to enjoy your meal. The staff was friendly. I'm already looking forward to the next time I'm in Cortez, it now on the Must Have list. My compliments to the chef! 👍👍👍🥂🏆

ADD 3.99% TO YOUR TOTAL!!!!!! Seems to be a lot of opinion here, opinions that the Owner writes off as such. Here is a fact, you WILL pay 3.99% for ANY card transaction...plus they will add not only the tax, but also the "transaction fee" when calculating the suggested tip. WOW! Full disclosure, there is a handwritten sign on the front door that was pointed out to me once I noticed the "Misc. Transaction Fee" on the bill. I asked and the explanation given to me by the hostess was "the machine charges 3.99% to every transaction." The bill/check is even presented on an American Express bill/check holder. Last I checked, American Express is the most expensive transaction fee at 3%. Opinion. No proof and did not ask but extremely difficult to believe that the Owner is not the one actually receiving that 3.99%. Additional full disclosure, I did give a tip on a to-go order even though I was in disbelief.

The price was higher (by $5.00+) than the same order placed 1 month earlier. My wife and I had eaten there at that time. They had messed up her order with a missing item (chicken) that was paid for on our receipt but we thought "hey it happens", the food was good and I wanted to give another try. Today I placed an order over the phone, as the business had just opened for the day (1100 am) I asked approximately how long before it's ready for pick-up, I was told "you're the 1st customer, 10 minutes", I explained that I'm coming from the Hospital and want to time this as best as possible as to return to duty ASAP. "10 minutes was my re-assured time". I arrived 19 minutes later and it wasn't prepared so I asked approximately how long? (the waitress acting as a liaison between customer and cook) Was told 3 minutes... no prob., I'm already there and I can handle that wait... The wait turned into 10 more minutes, so I inquired again... The waitress went to the back after some mumbling to herself a moment later I was confronted by the cook/owner with attitude, (cook) yelling "get out and never come back!", (waitress) cussing and telling me never come back again. Obviously... Who knows what the waitress was telling the cook/owner every time she went to the back. I wanted my refund, the waitress threw my receipt at me and said "go through your bank!" I wanted the transaction canceled so I looked at the cook/owner and he said he would refund me now,. as we awaited the transaction he had calmed a bit and was explaining the cooking process of chicken, in which I understood. So why lie to pacify? I was told a "3 more minutes" two times, the actual time was 10 minutes. Time was now 1129 am. My complaint is, I had asked about the time frame and was given continual inaccurate info and an attitude to boot, we agreed that I didn't yell, cuss or become unruly but received this type of response. It was now 30 minutes later. Really it's all "small potatoes" but to go from 0-60 and treated poorly was a reach on the part of the restaurant. Other customers were in the restaurant witnessing the commotion. This has to be embarrassing for them or maybe not... as I was told this happens all the time. Wow! In all fairness the food is decent but the service a big failure. I will not...

My wife and I stopped in during our trip to Mesa Verde for lunch a few weeks ago. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the server was fantastic. She was the only server and was tending to several guests including us, but we never felt forgotten and always was provided with good service.

My review is only 3 stars because the food didn't live up to the hype for me. The first trouble came when we were notified after we ordered that the kitchen was running out of items, and I could not order what I planned. Sure, no big deal, I didn't raise a fuss and the hot dog I ordered was an acceptable alternative.

Then we had some fancy fries with brisket, I can't recall what it was called, the flavor was good to be fair. Unfortunately, the brisket was luke-warm when it came out at best and a touch dry for my taste.

The Mac & Cheese I ordered with my hot dog was not good, the cheese used tasted very processed and had an odd texture to it with little flavor. My hot dog was delicious, it had green chili and was deep fried. It tasted fresh and tasted good and my wife's chicken sandwich was good as well. Having only about half our food meeting expectations, we were let down a bit.

Overall, the hype behind this place had my expectations high for the food, freshness, and temperature of my food that was left undelivered mostly. Especially with signage in the restaurant stating that they only serve "Fresh food not fast food" and then the food didn't always taste particularly fresh to us.

I do think this place is worth eating at, but I do have concerns about the business owners' responses to their Google reviews. They often seem unprofessional and defensive when someone is critical of their restaurant. I suspect a similar response may result from...
