Colorado Welcome Center - Cortez — Attraction in Cortez

This place gets 3 stars because they have so much information for all of Colorado not just this area. Being a Welcome Center I expected to feel welcome but when I walked in with my daughters it felt like the women working there were watching us like we were going to steal free brochures?!? What a great civic center for a small town! It stretches over numerous city blocks just north of Hwy 160 and includes a large municipal pool, a tennis complex, softball fields, small lakes and fountains, and large playgrounds. I saw the city hall and other city administrative buildings plus a Welcome/Tourist Center. Probably more that I missed seeing. Kudos to this small town at the Southwestern entrance...

Stopped here after we got stuck in a snowstorm and we're looking for something to do (as well as bathrooms) bathroom was clean and facility entry was well controlled but the host started ranting about COVID19 restrictions and how they're exaggerating (we didn't ask) we sort of just uncomfortably left once she started ranting about the government regulations.
