Where to start with Uroko? If you’re in a rush, here’s the short version: Uroko is the best poke shop in the US, period.
My love affair with poke began long ago, back when you couldn’t even find it in LA. I first tasted poke in Hawaii, and it was so amazing I even considered opening my own poke shop before it became a thing. So trust me, this review comes from both a devoted poke lover and a would-be poke entrepreneur.
Here’s the scoop on Uroko. They offer three sizes: small (2 scoops), medium (3 scoops), and large (5 scoops). You can mix and match three different bases, which is fantastic. My go-to is half broccoli and half white rice, and their rice is perfect—served warm, just as it should be.
One of the best parts? You get six scoops of various toppings without any extra charges, unlike other poke places. And yes, avocado is included! Seriously, why do other places charge $2-3 extra for avocado? It’s not like it’s saffron. Avocados are everywhere and affordable!
The toppings at Uroko are top-notch. They have both mango and pineapple, which add a delightful tropical twist to your poke.
Then, there’s the sauce selection—plenty of choices to suit any palate. After that, you move on to the final section where you can pile on additional toppings like sushi ginger, masago, furikake, and more—all at no extra cost. Load up your bowl, they’re super generous.
Now, let’s talk about the fish. I usually opt for tuna, salmon, and albacore. The tuna and salmon are consistently excellent—no funky smells, always clean, and perfectly portioned into bite-sized pieces.
Uroko’s staff also deserves a mention. They are incredibly friendly and efficient, and they genuinely care about your experience. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, they make you feel welcome and ensure you leave happy.
I’ve had poke all over the US, including the most popular spots in Hawaii. I’ve even made my own poke bowls. By far, Uroko is the best poke I’ve ever had.
Every time I eat there, I leave full and satisfied. It’s one of the few places where I’ve never had a bad meal. I usually drive 80 miles round trip once a week from LA just for their poke.
I recently moved to the East Coast and missed Uroko like crazy. The moment we returned to LA, after a long drive, our first stop was Uroko—three times in one day!
If you’re looking for the best poke place, look no further. Uroko is the real deal. Don’t waste your time, money, or energy trying to find another spot that measures up because you won’t.
Happy poking at Uroko! Trust me,...
Read moreI am writing to formally report an incident involving your employee, Isabella, during my visit on Friday, April 4, 2025, at approximately 8:30 PM. As a regular customer, I was disappointed by the unprofessional behavior I encountered.
Upon reaching the base station, Isabella’s demeanor was notably passive-aggressive and dismissive. The portion sizes she provided were smaller than usual. When I politely addressed this concern, she responded in a hostile manner, asserting that I was mistaken. Attempting to de-escalate the situation, I mentioned that her attitude was inappropriate, to which she reacted by making unpleasant facial expressions.
After proceeding to the next station, my husband informed me that he observed Isabella serving two scoops of rice, then using her hand to remove a portion, resulting in approximately one and a half scoops of rice for five scoops of protein. This action appeared retaliatory following my earlier feedback.
While the rest of the crew made commendable efforts to compensate for Isabella’s behavior through their kindness, the initial experience was unsettling and not reflective of the high standards I associate with Uroko Café. I would like to point out that we were the only Hispanic family present and the only ones who received that treatment from Isabella. In contrast, the Caucasian customers before us and the Asian customers who followed were greeted with smiles and kindness, and—as my husband noted—full portions were given to them. This is clearly discriminatory.
I kindly request that this matter be investigated and appropriate disciplinary action taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Read morethe restaurant is super hidden. its located in a building that only houses two businesses and the parking is in the back. the best way to enter is off of Paulrino (not Bristol). The main dining is pretty big with plenty of booth seating, random non matching chairs and even wooden bench seating. this poke restaurant is like others....prepared "chipotle style" and the menu is pretty simple and basic.
choose your size (small $7, medium $8.75, large $10.75)
choose your base (salad, white rice, brown rice, chips, half salad/half brown rice or in a wrap)
choose your sides (crab meat, avocado, cucumber, onions or if you cant decide, just say EVERYTHING!)
choose your protein (depending on the size you chose, you can mix and match between tuna, albacore, octopus, salmon, spicy tuna, tofu, yellowtail...etc)
choose your sauce (you can mix and match between original, the 3 levels of spiciness, spicy miso or spicy mayo. the sauces are not premixed, so you can ask for little or a lot of sauce)
FINALLY, choose your toppings (furikake, green onions, masago, wasabi, ginger...etc or again if you cant decide, just say EVERYTHING!)
they sell little containers of seasoned seaweed for an extra $1.00, individual Copa wines for $5, kirin, and soda as well.
i have only had the medium sized salad bowl with a mixed of different proteins and always add all the sides and toppings with spicy miso sauce. and it is VERY filling for me. a girl friend of mine ordered a large half salad and half brown rice and she said it was enough for TWO meals for her. my beau had a large brown rice in one sitting and was full from it. so depending on the size of your stomach, order...
