Sometimes you just flat out have an undeserved horrible experience at a business. I also know that sometimes these reviews can come from entitled Karens. Well, trust me when I tell you that this is a non-biased recount of a terrible interaction at this business. I took in a coral and diamond ring which had lost a diamond on the band. The only request I had made was to replace the missing diamond. When I picked it up, I failed to notice that the diamond was not replaced. Upon leaving, I realized not only the diamond was still missing, but also noticed that the previously perfectly round, shiny main black stone was damaged. So, I turned around immediately and went back in. When I went in to (kindly and patiently) complain about the lack of work that I requested, along with the work I didn't...the older woman behind the desk was immediately rude, defensive and absolutely refused to aknowledge their mistakes. Apparently it was my fault that the lady who did the intake didn’t write down the stone correctly on the receipt? But…I didn’t bring it in for the Stone? How does that make any sense? They shouldn’t have been touching the stone at all, all I asked for was a replacement diamond. After sending the ring back to the manufacturer to get a replacement diamond they told me that the coral was cleaned in a manner that damaged the stone and that they weren’t able to replace it unless I paid for it because it was already touched by another jeweler. I have no idea why they tried cleaning my stone when I didn’t request it. I also don’t know why they tried cleaning a ring if they don’t identify the stone before they choose how to clean it? And why were they cleaning the ring before they replaced the diamond? They are lucky that I am not suing them for ruining my brand new ring. By the way, I dropped off the ring upon picking up a bracelet that I paid to have fixed…that was given to me after I paid for it, completely NOT fixed. I should’ve known then, to take my business elsewhere. I am writing this months later because I didn’t want to write out of emotion. The woman was so dismissive and rude, I cannot believe she gets away with treating customers that way. I want to warn other people about bringing their business here. Maybe they sometimes get it right…but as a small business owner, I know, that you cannot allow your personal life to spill into the way you address customers. Swallow your pride and admit your very blatant mistakes. I’m sure this isn’t the first nor last time someone has experienced this here. Go somewhere...

Recently I bought an older used Fortis from 2004, I accidentally got it wet. The watch started to cloud up. I brought it in to Jostmar and they used their drying machine and also verified everything was ok. All no charge! Also, I had a battery replacement on my Tag quartz which they did it and had a water pressure test for only $25. High quality and knowledgeable service!
I recently went to Fast Fix Jewelry and Watch Repairs - Irvine since it was 5min from my home for a simple battery change on a Hamilton quartz. They got the battery in but scratched my caseback and sides! Terrible experience and the store wouldn't own up to the damage! I didn't have scratches on it since it was one of 15+ watches I rotate wearing and I have a desk job that doesn't scratch watches...
I will only go to Jostmar from now on. ...
Read moreI had an old Omega watch that has a lot of sentimental value for me – it was given to me when my grandfather (who I was named after) passed a number of years ago. Over the past twenty years I have had the watch repaired, and it would shortly thereafter stop working again. After sending it to Omega (who sent it on to Switzerland), they came back saying that they no longer fixed this model. After stopping by the Omega store in South Coast, they referred me to Jostmar, owned by Joe. It was the best piece of advice I could have received! Being that the watch is at least 50 years old, there were not a lot of movements available. Joe was extremely persistent and patient, and after attempting multiple solutions over the course of over easily a year (I had no rush, I just wanted it to be working again), he was able to find a solution. Joe’s patient and persistence are old school – he is a man of his word, and a class act all the way around. Would highly recommend Joe (who has owned the store for over 20 years) and Jostmar – you will be in great “hands” –...
