The wine I ordered smelled like fish (I think it was the glass that smelled, but I didn't dare drink any) so it was taken away and we were not charged for it. We ordered two tofu & vegetable dishes. They were good, but the tofu was deep fried, which I wasn't expecting (the menu didn't mention anything other than tofu, no clues as to how it would be prepared.) The hot and sour soup was so full of black pepper that I couldn't finish mine. I expected more of a red pepper spiciness, rather than black pepper. It was just ok. There was only one server, who handled many take out orders before, and during our meal. We were the only guests seated for dinner. A couple had just been leaving as we sat down. Our server was pleasant, and got the job done, but didn't seem to know how to handle my concern about the wine issue. I mentioned that I believed it might be the glass smelled, and not the wine, but that concern wasn't addressed. I wasn't offered another drink. My dinner partner had a pot of tea, so I asked for another tea cup. There were several tables in need of bussing, and the decor is old and tired (plastic viney plants strung around the ceiling over all the tables and random pictures on the walls. Masking tape by each table with the table number...) The food was seasoned and cooked properly. It seems like a friendly enough local restaurant with decent food. We will probably try it again for...
Read moreThe Mar Far Chicken Batter here, has Little Green Onions in it!!! I am now officially HOOKED! The Chicken tasted like it is marinated in Vegetable Broth. So delectable! I also was very impressed with the amount of Mar Far Chicken I received in my order. It comes with steamed white rice, but for an upcharge of $1.95 you can get Pork Fried Rice instead. The Pork Fried Rice was good, but I will stick with Steamed White Rice next time, because I will admit, I have had tastier. My one complaint is that meals here, don't come with Egg Flower Soup &/or Tea. However the quality & tastiness of the delicious Mar Far Chicken, WAY made up for the absence of both. My dining partner ordered a #4 combination, which he said was good & tasty. His only complaint was that he wished there wasn't Crunchy Dry Noodle under the Pork Chow Main portion of his dish, because they didn't do so good with his dentures, which he thought might break. He said he was caught off guard. I explained to him that Chow Main is usually served over the Crunchy Dry Noodle, so next time, just have them omit them. Our server Sandy was an absolute ray of Sunshine & my leftovers today are just as good. I want to take friends to eat here, it's only a half hour drive away &...
Read moreWe used to order every couple of months for take out. The prices have increased enormously every few months to where it is now. Sometimes we order combination dinners and sometimes we order just entrees. Tonight was the last straw. When I order a combination platter with chow main and get a small bag of noodles to go with it is normal. Today when I ordered it as a whole entree it came with the same small bag. I asked for another bag of dried noodles to cover the entree and was told it would cost another $2.50. Are you serious. What is going on here. If I ordered 2 combos with chow main I would have gotten 2 bags. An entree is more than a combo. SMFH. You just lost a...
