This roughly took place around June 11-17. The place was lovely, very refreshing, being that I don't often visit Cottage Grove. The service was as good as there weren't many people there and a single server working at the front. However, as forgiving as I am, I was greatly disappointed by the noodles. The rest of the toppings and broth were great, although very expensive. We never received the rice we had ordered for my youngest brother that came with me and my mother, and I was very confused on why two bowls of ramen could've added up to well over $60. I've been to many ramen places in areas such as Eugene and Springfield. However, between me and my family, this unfortunately wasn't worth as much as it was, or at least not the noodles. I'm not sure how I feel on the standard and small bowl prices being only $2 apart, but perhaps that's because I live in the Eugene/Springfield area. Toshi's Ramen is a good example of what this place could be/could've been.
I apologize if this offends anyone. However, this is as genuine as I felt I should be. Tips are still well deserved!
Edit: This took place June 18-24. I tried coming here again, this time to enjoy a tasty boba drink and the shaved ice cream they sell. Unfortunately, they had me wait a long period of time before helping me, even though the sign had said that the bobarista would call me over when they are ready. Regardless, I appreciate it. It gave me the opportunity to look over the menu. I bought an original milk tea and a milk tea and coffee shaved ice cream, both with coffee jelly. After waiting 15-20 minutes or so, they had finally gotten to helping me. I paid and gave another tip.
Everything seemed alright. But before I could ease my mind, the bobarista had just now realized that they were out of milk tea shaved ice cream and apologized, but didn't give me an opportunity to pick a different flavor since I paid for two flavors and coffee jelly. I'm really sad, the coffee ice cream was good, the milk tea was way too sweet. And I feel like I didn't get...
Read moreWent in recently for lunch while in town on business. The waitress seemed really new, as she was happily chatting with other customers and wasn't really focused on what she was doing. She forgot that I had ordered tea, and that we had asked for forks, and didn't come back to collect our order after 15 minutes, despite there being only 6 other customers in the restaurant. The ordering system was strange, as the toppings for our soup came separately, and about 5 minutes before the rest of our soup. The noodles were rather mushy, though the broth was hot and had good flavor (at least the creamy veg broth had good flavor, my husband wasn't impressed with the pork/fish broth, and added a lot of pepper to overcome the very fishy taste and odor.) We'd probably come back if we were in town, as there isn't much to eat at that hour in Cottage Grove, but given the choice, we'd rather go to...
Read moreDECEMBER 2 2021: we have given Oba many tries after our initial time having it. The conclusion we have come to is that their food is in fact, wonderful. The only thing is that if you order via DoorDash, I don’t recommend ordering ramen as it just doesn’t travel well. Just about anything else off of the menu travels perfectly fine and is just as good as if you ate it in the restaurant. Oba has become a favorite in my house overtime.
February2021: Wasn’t good at all in my opinion. The noodles were a solid mass, mushrooms were cold rubbery and difficult to chew even after having warmed up in the broth. The “pork” had the appearance, texture and flavor of turkey. Not worth the $$. That being said, the staff was friendly and the food was ready in a timely manner. I will give another try another time for non ramen items as I didn’t get any non ramen...
