4 stars for now. My coffee was pretty good. I ordered the veggie quiche and I feel like it's just my unsophisticated palate, but it wasn't good in my opinion. It needed some seasoning, it tasted like hard boiled eggs, and I believe the menu said it had a crust but there was no crust like a typical quiche would have. It was $8 but a HUGE serving! No way I could have finished it even if I had liked it. Maybe cut them in triangles instead of squares and serve them as half for $4? The prices here are a bit high, especially the coffee.
On another note, the cinnamon roll is to die for and it's still on my mind a week later and it's the main reason I'll be coming back.
The service was the best most helpful and kindest service I have received anywhere. Your staff is truly amazing!
UPDATE: 3 stars now. I tried this place again through Door Dash delivery. I got a cinnamon roll and a hot latte with vanilla brown sugar syrup. The cinnamon roll didn't live up to the last one I had here, it seemed a bit dry and overbaked, but still decent. The latte was INCREDIBLE, however the cup for SIX ENTIRE DOLLARS was 2 inches smaller than my phone. WHAT ARE YOUR PRICES??? This is probably the best tasting latte I've ever had, but either give me way more coffee for $6, or charge me way less for that small of a cup. Every review says your café is overpriced. Do...
Read moreIf this review were based on my initial experience, I would have rated it "Excellent". However, I have since been two other times, and each time have left more than a bit disappointed. The second time I went, I went with some friends, and we sat outside. Our waitress seemed annoyed that we asked for a menu (perhaps most are regulars), and acted like our request to describe their specialty drinks was ridiculous. After we ordered our first drink and didn't seem to be ordering anything else quickly enough, we didn't see her for at least another hour. If she was busy, she could have mentioned that and apologized. She didn't. We were actually going to order some coffee and something to eat, but she returned so late we decided against it. My most recent visit was with my family for "Family Night". The pizza was overpriced, and they didn't even have the vegetable option. When I asked if we could add some veggies to the meat option, I was informed these were frozen pizzas. Then, we ordered the s'mores kit. The chocolate was Hershey's chocolate. This is a chocolate bar with chocolate bars for sale in front, and they don't even use their own chocolate. Way overpriced for frozen pizza and grocery store s'mores. This might be the place for drinks and nice chocolate, but...
Read moreVisiting relatives from out of town and I was craving hand crafted coffee with freshly roasted beans. Coffee was divine and the milk was micro-foamed and velvety. Guava pastry was flaky without being dry and warmed to just the right temp. Service was friendly, prompt, and efficient. I also picked up a wellness shot of juice and some bone broth to go. Both were a treat.
To those complaining about minor details, stop me if you’ve heard this one, and there is this crazy virus going around that has interrupted staffing patterns and supply chains around the world. I’ve been to New York, LA, and Vegas in the last month and it was the same there- hotels with no housekeeping, five star restaurants with paper napkins, 50% price increase with smaller portions, and (gasp) coffee houses with no sleeves. Everyone is doing the best they can to overcome incredible odds and it’s up to us to be part of this recovery.
You know what makes America great? It’s not a flag or a hat- it’s small businesses like Upshot coffee and the kind, honest, ingenious, hard working people who run them, staff them, clean them, and patronize them.
Stay awesome, Upshot! Thanks for all...
