Tijuana Restaurant — Restaurant in Covina

I usually like to make good comments about places I visit and rate them as honest as possible but this is going to be an exception. I had eat lunch here in the past and had a good experience the food, the service all was good at that time, but this past weekend I was at my friend's house and she wanted a champurrado so we went to a bakery near her house where she usually gets it but the place was already closed so I Google a place in the area that had champurrado and this restaurant was the first choice so we went there, when we got to the register and asked if they had champurrado the cashier said no so we were about to leave but my friend's grandson was hungry and order an asada torta to go, we sat down while waiting for the order and one of the costumers heard us asking for champurrado so he said they're making more and it's almost ready if you want to wait and we thought well we are already here waiting for our order so we waited, we got the torta a few minutes later and we asked the cashier for two champurrados, we noticed a little attitude from the cashier but we ignored her at the beginning but when we got the champurrado it was freshly made so it was really hot so I asked the cashier for an extra cup to hold it so it would not burn our fingers, the cashier pretend not to hear me so I repeated my self three times and she looked like she didn't understood what I was saying I was never rude or nothing so my friend told her one more time explaining her that the cup was hot and we needed and extra one to be able to hold it, so she gave us the cup in such a rude manner to the point where she threw the cup at us and my friend got really upset and told her straight out with that attitude you're not going to sell anything and I just said we're definitely not coming back here. My point with this story it's to make clear that the restaurant may have good food and I may had have a good experience in the past but with bad situations like this instead of me coming back to eat there I will definitely not, I'm not a regular client so it will probably not going to affect them but if more people have experience this type of bad service it will affect...

update 2/23/24 went there 9pm last night our food took 30 minutes to make with no one ahead of us. portions were small and appeared preheated sold us large drinks for $5.50 and they didn't have to go cups. 5 tacos, chilaquiles, and two aguas was $39.85 and the food was terrible. once our food was done the lady at the cash register was making a fruit drink so we had to wait even longer for our food and it was subpar. their prices for the quality is out of hand.

old review: this place deserves 5 stars but they play that stupid $1 debit/credit card charge on top of your order if you pull out plastic. they should implement a minimum order, increase their prices, not charge a fee, make it cash only, or just eat the cost of debit/credit transactions. I rarely carry cash so I just refuse to eat here because $1 is...

I haven't been here in a few years. I was literally craving their fresh 🍓🍑 fruit and Mexican Rice with some soup. I am so glad I came without having time to review the bogus opinions of obviously some disgruntled customers. I had fresh fruit with cream, coconut, granola and raisins. I also had some delicious chicken soup. Both were so delicious and "Out of this World". Extremely authentic! Rice, I am very particular and they PAST the TEST!!! Very few Mexican Restaurants make rice the way I like it and this restaurant did!!!
