I honestly do not get the good reviews for this place. I found it massively lacking. When you walk in, it's nothing special, just some very basic tables and chairs with napkins on the tables and a wall of refrigeration units along two walls and shelves along the other with items from Louisiana (that I can truthfully buy online direct, for less.)

My first impression from their menu written on the white board is that it is NOTHING like what is shown on line, this place doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. Is it seafood and cajun, or just selling seafood....with a cajun market?

We arrived at 5pm for dinner. We ordered 2 crab dinners, 1 boudain ball (which stuck together like glue...I didn't finish it), 1 crab patty (my husband said it was alright), and two swamp water daiquiris...the bill was almost $100 just for that. WAY over-priced. Our crab dinners came with 2 boiled potatoes and a tiny piece of boiled corn....no butter for the crab or corn or potatoes, no untensils to crack the crab shells, and they wanted to charge a rental for those of $5 each, promising to refund the money when they were returned!? Are you kidding me?! Their reasoning is...people keep throwing them out. Well here's a thought, maybe check your trash before you take it out? I used to work for a REAL cajun/creol restaurant in Tulsa many years ago and guess what we did...we checked the trash before we took it out. Simply because items DO accidentally get tossed. You do not charge your patrons for something you should be providing due to the type of food you are choosing to serve.

Our crab was WAY over-cooked, the shells were not firm like they should have been, they were rubbery, making it that much more difficult to get the meat out. There was NO hot sauce on the tables, NO salt and pepper...no amenities of any type on the tables at all. If you wanted anything you had to get up and go to a small table....where there was still no Louisiana Hot Sauce or Tabasco (they probably wanted you to buy that too.) Then, about halfway through our meal, a woman walks out to inform us that she had just put the mix into the daiquiri machine for our Swamp Water drinks...would we like to switch to the peach instead? Huh? It's the beginning of the dinner rush...and you aren't fully prepared for it? What choice did we have, we took the Peach (btw, these have alcohol...but no one cards when taking orders.) Our drinks were brought out in Styrofoam cups with lids....which we easily walked out of the establishment with (just to see if anyone was paying attention, they weren't)....bet the ABLE Commission would love to know they are serving alcohol without checking ID AND letting patrons walk out with it and get in their vehicles to drive with it.

I have eaten SO much better, without having to drive 50 miles one way for it. This place calls itself cajun/creol...but there was no red beans & rice, no jambalaya, no gumbo, no ettouffe...just boiled or fried seafood as far as I can tell. And on a Friday night, a night that is typically one of the busiest nights for a restaurant...they were out of Oysters??!!! Based on my experience, that's probably a good thing for us.

I honestly cannot recommend this place. I'll go to White River Fish Market or down to Cherry St. if I want some good seafood or...

Quick view summary: Good food, decent selection, decent music, and a section that you can order seafood from, take home, and cook yourself like a seafood market. Not family-friendly if you have kids under the age of around 4, be prepared for no high chairs or booster seats. The possible enjoyment of the $57 I ordered in food as to try multiple items was overshadowed by having to fit in almost 2 year old and a chair and keep him occupied. I'll give it some time, go back and adjust my rating. So I drove a little bit out of the way to go try this place that I've been hearing about. I guess I should start off by saying I guess it could be pretty kid friendly as long as your kids don't need high chairs or booster seats because they don't have any . They have regular table seating and a high top type bar area counter . The first thing that I noticed was that everything seemed fresh and I could see them making it behind the counter. On a side note, you can also buy stuff out of the refrigerators, kind of like a seafood market type deal. I ordered my food, but the entire time, waiting on the food and during dinner, I struggled with my almost two year old because I had to sit him down in a seat, a regular seat, which took some of the enjoyment away from enjoying the food. A gentleman, I'm assuming, to be an owner or manager came out and addressed all of the tables and asked them how their food was and had small talk about sports. Except for my table with the struggling kid, he looked that way a few times but seemed to avoid my table. The girl at the cash register was helpful and friendly, but the girl behind the counter looked hot and relatively unpleased to have a conversation about the food. The air conditioners were struggling to keep up, so I wouldn't suggest going on an overly hot day. Overall, I'd go back and try it again. The food was good. Next time, I'll have to bring a high chair or booster seat. Also, I didn't go in the restrooms to see if there were any changing tables or anything like that. Overall, family-friendly for families with children probably above...

Heard rave reviews so took the drive from Tulsa to check it out. Drive was not bad four of us went on a Friday night at 5:30. It was amazing! I had the sassy shrimp boil 15 boiled shrimp, piece of sausage, ear of corn, hard-boiled egg, two potatoes and it was amazing! I love butter and the presentation was beautiful but I would ask for very light butter or just butter in a cup on the side but not complaining it was that great! Two of my friends got the catfish, hush puppies and fries and one friend got just the fried shrimp dinner and they all commented how great it was! The two girls working the counter were very sweet and patient for the first timers lol The fried shrimp has a bit of kick to it I loved it but if you do not like any sort of heat with your fried shrimp do not get it. Even if you didn't add sassy butter to the boiled shrimp it had a tremendous flavor but no spice so that may work for those that do not like heat. The hush puppies were great because they were smaller than a golf ball which is perfect because they were cooked through out instead of doughy in the middle. I have zero complaints except one suggestion My friends suggested that they have sweet tea though I don't drink it they all would have loved it and to me if you're going to have a southern establishment it ought to have sweet tea but still not complaining there are about eight tables and it is a small sort of dive type place but very clean and friendly. You can get bottles of beer, a margarita or bottles of soda pop no fountain. I will definitely make my way back and get the sassy shrimp again! Just butter on the side so I can dip...
