All Favorites Cafe may be new, but Chef/owner Berke Marye--who spent the last decade transforming Winfield's, on Block Island, into one of the best restaurants in New England is now on the mainland and his food is blowing minds in what used to JP Spoonems on Broad Street in Cranston. Chef Marye goes back to his Texas roots with the food at All Favorites, with delicious huevos rancheros topped with house-made crema, and, for heat-seekers such as this former Texan, house-made 'Cortes sauce'--Chef Marye's tribute to the fantastic hot sauce at the late, lamented Cortes Deli in Houston. Or try the pharmacy burger topped with Chef Marye's own pimento cheese. Or try El Burro, the breakfast burrito, which will fill you up for the day without putting you on the couch for long, summer nap. Or sink into the absolutely stunning twist on the Bahn Mi: eggs over easy topped with house-made pulled pork on a delicious foot-long roll.
The service is fast, friendly, and attentive, and Chef Marye has things down to the last detail--check out the vintage posters for Rumblefish and My Bodyguard on the walls (bonus points if you spot the Tony Alva ad from Skateboarder Magazine, and the music is just the icing on the cake. You'll hear everything from The National to Hank Williams to Joe Ely to Ray Charles while eating some of the best food in the entire Northeast.
And last, but not least, All Favorites is kid-friendly (just ask my 6-year old, who loves the pancakes).
p.s. You can buy the amazing pimento cheese to take home. As Chef Marye's brother, Drew, says,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLook, this place is great, absolutely go try it if you havenāt been, and go back if itās been a while.
The food is good and really, really reasonably priced for how good it is. The atmosphere is lovely. The staff are so very nice. Owned and run by a small family. Nickās on Broadway it is not, but thatās by design yāall - the chef is good enough to do pretty much whatever he wants, and has folded in his Texas roots into the soul of this place. Rotating specials.
Oh yeah, and the music is great. You canāt listen to The Minutemen and get down on a tasty meal literally anywhere else in Rhode Island that I know of - score. I rarely choose to eat breakfast anywhere else except my own home, and when I do, it usually isnāt that good, except here - here is good and Iām in pretty much weekly if you still arenāt convinced. If the greater population of Providence canāt keep this place open then we donāt deserve nice things and Iām going to be extremely upset with all of you.
Personal faves: Goat Cheese Omelette. Mushroom Toast. The Burro. El...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was the PERFECT stop for us for Christmas Eve before going out to swe family. We ordered the Classic and the Eggs Benedict. Both surpassed our expectations!
They were quick to take our drink orders (the cranberry juice isn't loaded with sugar and the coffee was good). Our server gave us great food recommendations as well.
You have to try the home fries if you come here. They were full of flavor and not greasy. The sourdough toast is nice and chewy and had a nice crisp to it.
When our drinks got low, someone automatically came over to ask if we wanted water, which was a nice touch. They were also very quick to pick up any empty plates.
The service was great, and the food amazing. Its a nice, quiet little shop on a corner. We will definitely be back again for our...
