I called on a weekday (mid-)morning enquiring about zeppolas, and asked what sounded like an older woman if they would have any if I stopped by about 4:00 pm. "Oh, absolutely! We'll have more than enough when you get here." She was emphatic. Got there a little before 4 PM and am told "We just ran out a short while ago". I told the employees what I was told that morning - silence. No apology by any one of the women working there. I drive a half-hour there on the word of the employee, and find out I've been lied to. Did they figure that if I showed up and they didn't have any zeppolas, I'd probably just buy something else? I'll never give them my business again, and I suggest that if you call to enquire about something, do not trust them. Incredibly unprofessional, to say the very least. RESPONSE TO THE OWNER: Two (rhetorical) questions: (1) Why didn't the morning employee tell me she could reserve zeppoles for me that I could pick up in the afternoon? (This was not at all a "guess" on the employee's part; she was emphatic and positive in her response) (2) Why didn't any of the afternoon employees even offer an apology after what I'd told them? The best they could do was pass the buck ("That wasn't me you spoke with" and "It was someone else working the morning shift" was their version of customer service, or lack thereof) and make excuses (like the owner here). As I said, very unprofessional. Yes, there are lots of other bakeries, and I'll frequent...
Read moreAFTER 50+ YEARS BYE. Stopped in to pick up a few sliced pizza and pastry for the office. They still have that 20 x 4 foot plastic sign to protect them from covid. Then I saw the sign. 4% SURCHARGE TO SCREW OUR CUSTOMERS . Yes they want to use cash with all those germs on it and then touching food. ;( BU T if you use your credit card they charge you a fee. If you use cash they do not charge you a fee if they get robbed, or employee theft etc. The business has an agreement with MC & VS that states they can ONLY charge the customer up to the amount that they pay so if they are paying 2.9% they can charge that amount. NOT 4% like this place is doing. the worse part is if you do not have the cash then you can not spend more. What they did not do is STATE THE FEE ON THE INVOICE which is required and because this is NOT FOOD This is subject to RI SALES TAX. I have contacted the State Sales Tax Auditor about them. HAVE FUN
UPDATE.... your sales for food are exempt. Credit card fees are NOT Food. they are taxable...
Read moreToday, at the farmers market we visited this stand. There were two younger children, and an older woman. We greeted them briefly. We looked at what they had to offer, while they were starting to pack up. The older woman then assumed we where looking for discounted products, perhaps because we were the only minority patrons? I’m not sure. We said thank you very much for speaking with us, but we are not interested at this time. The older woman began to give us condescending looks, and an evil eye behind our backs that she thought we wouldn’t catch. I asked her what was the name of the establishment and where is it located, just so we can be aware, and not to ever give them our business… I am disappointed and sad, because myself and my family visit the farmers market often. We just didn’t want anything that had been sitting out in the hot...
