It's a RI staple that hits the spot just right. I walked in, ordered 5 hot weiners all the way with a small cheese fry, a small fry, and a coffee milk with a couple of waters for myself and my gf. In about a minute I have my food that's freshly made right in front of me. I sat down and started on my three hot weiners. They have a really good combination of flavors going on. The meat sauce and hot weiner offer meaty saltiness, which pairs well with the strong chopped onions and celery salt. Now the key to this not just being a meaty salt bomb is the spread of mustard layered between the weiner and the meat sauce. The bit of tang from the mustard balances that saltiness and rounds everything out. After the weiners I started eating my cheese fries. One of the most common disappointments of cheese fries is the soggy fry that usually results from having the fries covered in cheese sauce. They don't have that problem here. The fries come out so hot, fresh, and crispy that they can hold their own against the dense cheese sauce. I found myself licking my finger tips when eating this. I also tried their coffee milk, which my gf ordered, and it delivered on what I expect from coffee milk. I grew up with coffee milk being an occasional treat that I'd get as a kid if my parents were taking me through RI or even in parts where I'm from in eastern CT. It's not as common to see it as it used to be but their coffee milk delivered on the nostalgic flavor. We ordered some more hot weiners all the way to take home and I'm so glad that we did. In my opinion, the hour or so that the hot weiners sat in the bag made them even better. By the time we got home and started eating our to go order, the meat juices and onions really got a chance to marry together and made them into something that I now kinda crave. If you want a hearty, working class, regional, fast food that has character,...
Read more6/9/24 6:56 pm Dine-in Reservoir location. Cranston My daughter was here visiting from out of state and we decided to try this place out. We ordered weiners. They were good, a bit pricey though. Around 7:05 a staff worker came to our table and said when you are done please exit by side door. We wondered why since it was just after 7 pm and according to online they close at 9 pm. After we were done eating we decided to ask why we had to leave out the side door which is in back of building. We were sitting right by the front door and parked near the front door. They stated because they close at 8 pm and they locked the front door so no more customers would come in. Minded we were only customers the whole time we were there and was just after 7 pm. Joking around I made a comment to older gentlemen that the staff said was shift management. I said that they should not make two females a lone walk around building this day and age that it wasn't safe, he in return made a few rude comments and then stated oh well that's life get over it. By this point we were no longer joking and we were furious at this person for his rudeness and explained to him that we were only joking around but we're curious as to why he would be so rude and ignorant to a customer and why he would lock the doors so early and not unlock to let us out but to make us walk around the building. We will never eat at this location again. Customer service is nothing like it was 50 years ago and I guess it's ok to be rude and ignorant to customers now. As far as I am concerned that gentlemen, (which refused to give me his name), should not be working with the public. He was just a very grumpy person. And definitely didn't seem to like his job or even want to be there. We should have waited before we gave them a...
Read more100% recommend!!! One of the BEST New York Systems I've gone to. Portion sizes are great, food is great, and the people there are great too. And the people there are ABSOLUTE sweethearts. 2023's Halloween was freezing cold- but me and my big brother went trick-or-treating anyway. We were SHIVERING by the time the sun fully set, so we stopped by just to sit inside and warm up. The place was about to close by then, but they let us in anyway, even while we were in full costume. We knew the people pretty well, and even though we didn't have money at the time, they offered to get the kitchen back set up and gave us food for free, so long as we paid him back when our paychecks came in. We got 2 burgers, 2 fries and 2 coffee milks without even having to pay at the time. Truly one of my fondest memories. And one of the guys working there said my costume was SICK. Overall, I love the place. The vibe of the inside is homey, comfy and nostalgic, and the people are just as nice- I cannot say that enough. The cheese fries have the PERFECT amount of cheese, the burgers are IMMACULATE no matter what toppings, every single sauce is delicious, and don't even get me started on the grilled cheese. Food is very filling too, and even if you order little, you still leave with leftovers. Please come here. You will not regret it. Wilbur, a 17-year-old who really, really loves this...
