Without some improvement, It won't be around for long. It's clean, I'll give it that. Decor is pretty much the same as every new generic Mexican restaurant these days, bright colors, overly lit, painted skulls, painted faces of ladies. Not knocking that, but a little originality would be a nice change. Booth seat was a bit of a sinker. Latin hip-hop music was really loud and distracting. Server was attentive and items came out quickly, but nothing was hot. Cadillac Margarita was not quality. Diet Coke was a bit flat. No complimentary chips and salsa, so we ordered it for $3. Chips were generic bulk brand tasting as was the salsa. When you pay for Chips and salsa they should be better quality. I would actually pay more for better quality chips and salsa in a heartbeat. We ordered the same entree, the namesake Enchiladas Mexico City, a combination of three different enchiladas with three sauces, a fairly common menu item in most Mexican restaurants and usually never a disappointment, except for this one. Three small, lukewarm, meagerly filled, blue corn enchiladas, with a scant amount of sauce and a tiny bit of partially melted cheese on each one. They were served with a bowl of beans, so thin it was drinkable, some run of the mill salty rice, and easily the worst guacamole I have ever tasted outside of convenience store squeeze pack. Everything was overly salty. I can't recall ever being this disappointed with an enchilada plate. Sorry for a downer review, but this place can do better. I don't think they will be giving our usual favorite, El Tapatio down the street any...
Read moreA new place just opened a few weeks ago. Comfortable, clean and interesting decor. The menu is large and mostly traditional Mexican dishes but did include a number of fish dishes. I had a cheese enchilada and a chicken enchilada with rice and beans. The plate also included a small salad. Proportions were fine but not huge. The chicken was a bit too spicy hot for me but that is personal preference. The beans were quite runny. But overall the meal was flavorful and satisfying.
Service was fast and friendly and prices were good.
Then came the bill. There was an unexpected 'service charge' and a note that paying in cash was a discount. Both were unexpected. I am not opposed to a service charge as I travel a lot and this is common in Europe. But I don't like being charged for something without advanced notice. It was very small (66 cents!) which raises the question of why charge this small amount and risk angering your customer. The offered discount for cash payment seems to be uniquely American and simply a way to recover the bank credit card fee. I like the way they handled it in that they charged the credit card price and then offered a discount. Most places that charge for a card do so by adding a fee at the end. Makes it harder to...
Read moreI had terrible experience with this place, first time I was there with my wife we like the place the food was good and drinks are great. We decided to go back on a Tuesday, we order an appetizer and entrees. We eat our appetizer 30 minutes later still wait on our entrees, so we ask our waitress where is our entrees she said let me go check and she came back said about another 10 more minutes. the place wasn't that busy, 15minutes later they brought our food I ate the steak and noticed my shrimp and bacon wrap was raw. So I called the other waiter to show him and he brought it back to show the chef. the waiter told me, we would cook the shrimp and bacon. I said to him, no I would not eat the shrimp and bacon. The waitress for our table said we will compensate you with discount I said okay. My wife is upset just to pack the food and go. They brought the check I noticed 30% discount on my food orders which equal same amount of shrimp and bacon. It is unprofessional of them that the manager did not come out and apologize or anything. I don't know they were doing this intentionally but we will not go back to that...
