Olive Tree Restaurant — Restaurant in Cresskill

While looking for a lunch spot near our home, found this new restaurant in Cresskill. It was opened a couple months ago. It still has it glossy new appearance. The restaurant is very pretty inside, filled with bright sunlight shining on the white interior.

The menu is short but has good variety of appetizers, entrees, desserts, sides and drinks. We started with the eggplant salad. A mashed eggplant dish that tasted okay to me. The grilled octopus was the best dish. It was cooked perfectly, but had lots of other veggies on the plate that didn’t seem appealing to me. For entree we got the Olive tree combination that included chicken gyro, lamb shish and adana kebab. Lamb shish was the best one out of the three, adana was good but little inconsistent from piece to piece, chicken was very dry inside, though it had nice seasoning. The pita on the plate and the complementary bread at the start l, both were excellent.

I used multiple food delivery services to get my mediterranean food here, tried the lento soup, chicken shish, lamb shish, hummus, veggie sticks, etc. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because the chicken shish and vegetables had charred parts and the chef didn’t bother to remove them. (but it is wise to remove heavily blackened parts before eating).

If you don’t want to eat too salty foods, you need to specify less salt or no salt in the takeout order. If you don’t want the overcooked lamb, you also need to specify medium rare.

Overall, a very high end restaurant that has good quality food and friendly staff. Especially with the outdoor setting in the fall...
