A J's Hot Dogs & Gyros — Restaurant in Crest Hill

Aj’s Hotdogs is right down the street from my house I have always seen it just never went in. The other day I was with my mom out and about running errands and we got hungry so we decided to check it out. They’re a small business that I don’t see with many people in there, it has a food stand feeling and a welcoming/ homey vibe to it, however, I definitely will be returning. When we walked in we were greeted by a lady behind the counter. She was kind and patient throughout her taking our order and even recommended us the soup of their day which was cream of rice soup at the time. The staff was extremely friendly and made you feel welcome. I ended up ordering a hot dog with everything on it, gravy bread double soaked, and cheese sticks along with a pop. Now they’re known for their hotdogs and gyros but I’m not a big fan of gyros so I contemplated trying them out but decided not to however my mom did. My mom ordered herself a gyro, with fries, and some poppers, and we shared a cream of rice soup. We paid and then sat down waiting. The food was ready so fast! Like it came out within 5 minutes despite the size of the order! They are really quick with the food! They brought the food out to us since we were eating in and were so kind about it and told us to enjoy. Don’t even get me started on how good the food was! Especially for a price like that, it’s so good. I love the gravy bread it was phenomenal as well as the creme of rice soup which had exceptional flavor and was so smooth! I tried a piece of my mom's gyro and for being one who doesn’t like them I did enjoy it, wouldn’t buy it for myself but everyone's different so it might be for you it’s just my personal preference. Not only is the food great but the workers are amazing and the price is definitely affordable. The decor in the lobby is cute too! They always deck the lobby full of decorations when a holiday comes around it’s adorable I’m obsessed with it! I would definitely be returning to Aj’s, nothing beats their food haven’t tried anything like it! Overall, the restaurant has great customer service, the food was fantastic, as well as it came out fast and the place was very clean and up kept. I would rate this restaurant 5/5 stars and would most definitely recommend it to everyone in the area to at least try it once, it might not be for everyone but my experience going...

Customer service there sucks not only have they messed up my order one time but they’ve messed it up multiple times. The only reason I even stopped it was because my daughter was starving and she wanted a salad so I figured they can’t mess that up which they didn’t, but they definitely messed up a sub sandwich, they didn’t toast it. They put the wrong cheese on there and then when I called about it, they told me and I’d have to bring my sandwich up there and have it remade or I could get a refund. She also stated that the cheese that was on. There was the correct cheese and I told her that I wish she could take a bite of my sandwich because I know it’s American cheese and not mozzarella , the economy is horrible and small businesses like this should make sure that their customers are happy and this business make sure their customers are clearly dissatisfied and that they don’t get that they pay for needless to say I wasted $20 for nothing I will not be going back to this place except to...

Have had positive experiences in the past, so tried again. Young woman who answered the phone asked to put me on hold. No problem. Except, she didn’t put me on hold and I could hear everything being said between employees and customers. After 9 minutes of waiting I was cut off. I called back and the girl told me she was sorry for my wait but she was taking orders. I told her that I had not been put on hold and heard everything that was said during that time period and that she was being untruthful to me. I asked to speak to a manager but was told there was not one present. I asked to talk to someone else and one of the cooks got on the line. He told me that I was unhappy there were plenty of other restaurants I could patronize. I realize that many establishments are short staffed, but in a service industry, management needs to put capable and truthful people in the positions directly dealing with the public.
