I stopped in for dinner one night because it's near my hotel. The place has an East coast diner feel to it. Sort of a long narrow shotgun shack kind of a building. The menu is in some respects limited in that you don't have the endless combinations that you find in most Tex-Mex restaurants. On the other hand it had a very broad selection of more authentic Mexican food. The only thing missing was mole sauce.
I had the chicken fajitas with rice and beans and it was more than I could eat. Also very good and reasonably priced. The fajitas were very good, the beans were solid. The rice was uninspired, but good. They serve beer. I wish they'd had a margarita.

Read moreIn the 2 o’clock hour of the afternoon my husband went to make a purchase for us as a late lunch. He ordered some tacos for himself and some enchiladas for me. Subsequently he decided to purchase tamales. When he arrived home it was discovered that the tamales were not among our packages. I placed a call to the restaurant and the gentleman that I spoke with was incredibly curt. I told him that I was just a customer and please refrain from speaking to me in that tone as I was simply trying to work out whatever it was that happened with our order. Then the gentleman hung up in my face. I have no clear understanding why someone would want to lose so much business over a simple phone call about a tamale. Read moreI love that they have a nice, CLEAN taco. Meaning, it's not deep fried nor drenched in oil. Simply browned and lightly seasoned meat, freshly cut tomatoes, freshly cut onions, and fresh lettuce. Added some sour cream to that, and perfection. Sides (beans and rice) were really good too.
Service was good and quick. The people seemed really nice.
Just know that these folks are INSIDE of Chuck's Tavern. I had to figure that out.
