Nardelli's Grinder Shoppe — Restaurant in Cromwell

They have GREAT SANDWICHES, among other things like there cannolis!! The people are sooo nice and there fast at getting your order done!! They also have Italian meats to be sliced and I believe cheeses also, and premade foods you can take home and warm up. I grew up in Bridgeport, to which there were large groups of Sicilian/Italian sections. We always went to Italian shops for products. It is so worth it to go there. It’s a a little expensive but not for the quality and the amount you get no matter what you order!! The place reminds me of many happy memories of growing up in a Sicilian family and having such GREAT FOODS AND OTHER PRODUCTS. You never grow out of wanting the things that made you happy as a child, especially foods. Your first bite of anything from there will instantly take you back to when you were a kid! I grew up around Italian deli’s and Italian shops, there is no other comparison to such great Italian shops and foods. But Nardelli‘s is just like the shops I used to go to as a child all the way up till today I am 48 and still, just those little things Italian shops do and make, makes my heart feel happy as well as my brain. Today is May in the year of 2022 and I am bringing my daughter there for the first time who also grew up the Sicilian/Italian way of life! As in music, lifestyle, and of course as always the best food, but I may be biased on that part.LOL!! But if you don’t go, and there are many of there shops around, you’ll always regret it whether you’re Italian or Polish or Mexican it doesn’t matter, the place is amazing and so is there food!!!!!! Also, the place is immaculate, clean like no other place I have been to!!! You can be rest assured that everything they use or the surfaces that they make items on or were they make your sandwiches is very clean and healthy which is a big thing for me and especially in this day and age of Covid and other issues that create germs. We went to Nardella’s on July 19, 2024., around 4:30 PM . I was looking forward to ordering a sandwich from there. They had discontinued one of the things I wanted that was OK, I was going to Try something else. There were two people on duty and young man with dark hair , and a young lady with blonde hair. I have an allergy, so I was inquiring about some of the products that were in the case. I asked about if a particular item was breaded because it was hard to tell on that item, and I was told that all their items are baked. I said yes I know that’s not what I’m asking. I’m asking if this is breaded. Once again, I got from him the Items are baked telling me like 4 times never answering my very simple question. Then the blonde girl started to wait on me asking what size sandwich I wanted I said it’s been a minute since I’ve been here. What sizes do you have again? She said holes or halves I said OK we’re gonna do halves. I said mine would be gluten-free. she told me the gluten-free only came in a hole , with it with a bit of attitude I said that that’s fine. I still have it, and as she walked away, she was huffing and puffing that she had to go get the bread. At that point, We made the decision and left we didn’t want someone huffing and puffing that they had to make are sandwiches. That made us very uncomfortable!!!!!! Very poor customer service. The Danbury location on Newtown Rd is bright and immaculate and Jim and his staff were very welcoming and helpful! I grew up near Waterbury so Nardelli’s was a household name and I always need an Italian combo when I travel back. The sandwich was excellent although I miss bread with a little more “tooth”. I lamented to Jim about the demise of the great CT bread bakeries like Milite’s etc… the rolls and breads at Nardelli’s come from NY and my bread was good, but not great.

The quality and presentation of everything was awesome- see video! I grabbed a salad to go for tomorrow for a post holiday healthy choice… looks awesome and dressing is homemade.

I didn’t make it out of the driveway before I dug into my filled-to-order delicious cannoli, too!
