Charming Cafe-does not deliver — Restaurant in Crosby

THIS IS A HIDDEN GEM !!! my husband and I found Charming when I was pregnant with my son. From the instant we walked in, I was so warmly welcomed and attended too. From the start to finish Everything was perfect, and you could tell it was important to everyone that it be perfect visit and everyone be in love with their experience.

For starters. We are sushi connoisseurs (at least in our minds), we have had every praised sushi lovers hot spot in Houston (We've tried) as well as all over the country.

Charming has BY FAR, EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS!

Charming not only has a wide array of choices for every food lovers craving but also a wonderful list of starters (Some of the best egg rolls, spring rolls and Wontons FILLED with the most amazing stuffing), generous main course options. but also the absolute freshest, perfectly cut sushi that is always amazingly beautiful perfectly rolled sushi.

Wonderful portions also are guaranteed with that fresh and amazing sushi! No matter the choice you make they are never shy on the portions or flavor! This food is always made with love!

The costs are always very well displayed AND priced in coordination with the plate. You will always feel like you got a heck of a deal instead of buyers regret at the end of the night. If you REALLY eat sushi ..IFKYK... lol

Very friendly and caring owner named Tracy who ensures the Cafe is always staffed with the most wonderful individuals! The owner and I took ruens with who had a belly when and have bonded. SHES ANSOLUTELY one the sweetest caring women you'll ve blessed to meet in this lifetime.

You simply cannot go wrong here with their authentic food. The intimate and comfortable quiet environment. The attentive, warm, and caring friendly service around!

Charming Cafe has definitely been highly recommended by our entire family and extended group to all sushi lovers

I've eaten at a lot of sushi places and even worked at one back in the day. I ordered a fried tiger eye roll to share with my husband. Every time I have ordered one from other places it comes with the whole roll fried in tempura batter. Instead, I received a roll with just the inside fried. Usually, the outside fried rolls are still raw in the middle but the extra crunch makes it delicious. What I got at charming cafe was a plain tiger eye roll with the salmon inside fried. It looked like someone took canned salmon and packed it in the middle of a roll.

I took my order back inside and asked if I could get something else and was treated like I was insulting someone. Obviously, Charming Cafe does not prepare rolls how other sushi restaurants prepare theirs. I explained that we were wanting a roll that was fried on the outside in tempura batter but was told they only had one roll with it. The roll they had that was fried on the outside had shrimp in it. The owners wife started talking in a different language to her husband and sounded aggravated. I explained that my husband can't eat shrimp and the waitress quickly said "well you don't have to get shrimp in it, you can't get something else." Her tone and facial expression seemed a little rude and at that point I decided to leave. No one made an attempt to explain on the phone how they fried their rolls. The owners or the waitress didn't offer any kind of suggestion or remedy. I just felt like I was annoying them. Sorry, I like to get what I'm paying for! On my the way out I just said "nevermind, thanks" and the (man) owner said "thank you, try again next time."

That statement made me aggravated. I'm not going to "try again." If you make your rolls different than traditional sushi places you need to explain that. How about stating that the rolls are made inside out? Or reverse fried? The food usually sucks anyways but is decent for Crosby, considering. I...

Delicious clean food. (I used to work here, great management!) I can validly say ALL the food is fresh. They get new deliveries EVERY day. the restaurant itself is clean, and the wait staff is always well groomed. Now that I don't work here anymore, I'd suggest asking for Victoria or Makayla to be your waitress. They are always precise and rarely make mistakes. They're quick, patient, and know how to treat a customer. They can quickly find a solution to any problem.

If you're ordering sushi, I'd suggest the Tokyo Maki, it's deep fried and delicious. But if it's your FIRST time ordering sushi I'd suggest the shaggy dog or California roll to play it safe.

If you're ordering a meal, I always recommend the Tangy Spicy Shrimp with steamed rice. Super spicy and super tasty. Made with sriracha sauce. Or I'd suggest the Charming Spicy, not too spicy. LARGE MEAL POTIONS.

Keep in mind there ARE half sizes for ALL the lo mien and fried rice, (the portions are huge)

In fact I'm going to eat at charming while on my lunch break today.
