Fantastic Meal and Amazing Service at El Batey

We weren’t sure where to go for dinner in Culebra, but we ran into our snorkel guide from H2O Water Taxi at the gas station and he recommended El Batey. He couldn’t have steered us in a better direction!

Our server was absolutely wonderful — her smile lit up the room and made us feel so welcome from the moment we sat down. The service was friendly, attentive, and genuine, which made the experience that much better.

The food was absolutely fantastic — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Every dish we tried exceeded expectations, and we left feeling completely satisfied.

If I could spell our guide’s name correctly, I’d give him credit here for pointing us toward El Batey, but as an old gringo with no Spanish skills, I’ll just say: thank you — you didn’t do us wrong!

Our group visited yesterday for drinks and some snacks. The atmosphere was decent, but there was one bartender, and she seemed quite irritable and was very rude. She would occasionally shout at customers and use profanity, which was off-putting. Unfortunately, this experience has made us decide not to return. Culebra has plenty of other great spots for drinks, and we’d prefer to explore those instead. Maybe it was an off night but not planning to come back to check. Les cuento que llegué a Culebra un día que todo se encontraba cerrado, salí a ver si había por fe algún lugar donde pudiéramos comer algo, había un lugar con las puertas entre abiertas y preguntamos si había algo para cenar, el caballero que nos atendió nos indicó que tenía dos platos con comida que nos regalaría (vimos la bendición) nos aligeramos a bajar del auto y aunque algo disimulada apreté el paso 😂 ya mi estómago comenzaba a protestar por el hambre, pedimos unas sodas y preguntamos cuánto debíamos? Absolutamente, nada, nos dijo la dama que se encontraba en el mostrador. La puerta de la cocina se abrió en ese momento y mis ojos no pudieron evitar pasearse por aquella cocina LIMPIA, como me gustan a mí (ya ustedes me conocen) con más alegría tomé los alimentos que nos regalaban. Abrí aquel plato y Dios mío! Todo estaba delicioso, hasta postre tenía.

Ellos fueron de bendición a nuestras vidas en esos momentos que ni el dinero puede comprar lo que necesitas, en un día en que pensaba en la comida preparada por las manos de mi madre y que ya ella no puede preparar… Todo en mi vida es de bendición, les juro que tenía hasta el sabor de la comida de mami. Demás está decir que nos ganaron el resto de los días y los auspiciamos. Un lugar lindo, agradable, con gente buena (como me gustan a mí) billares gratis para los clientes y un espacio hermoso y mágico. Si vas a Culebra te invito a llegar al El Batey.
