I went with a large party and were seated quickly. Kudos to the server, local utility company was working on power lines and knocked out the power for a bit for the non-kitchen side and the computers were out. We came close to closing so we all thought we would have to order pizza. She took our orders by hand! I can only speak of the fried chicken and mac and cheese. Both were excellent. The fried chicken has to be in my top 5 if not top 3 of all restaurant fried chicken I've eaten. The crunch was spot on, and the taste was delicious! You get the breast, thigh, wing and leg! The mac and cheese was served in a little cast iron skillet. It was good, but nothing special. When I say nothing special, I mean like it didn't have any other little 'add-on's' like I've had elsewhere like bacon or other tasty things. But for homemade, it was good. The owner also came out and we met her dog. I was glad she greeted us. If I didn't tell her about how the server helped saved our dinner, I hope she can read it now! We all came in from separate places that took hours to drive, and we did not want to get bar food or...
Read moreAfter moving to Culver within the last year, I’ve been here at least 5 times now. Every time I’ve been, the service is so poor. Being a server for 7 years, I know it doesn’t take much to walk up to a table, introduce yourself and ask how everyone’s doing. You won’t get that here! The servers always seem like you are an inconvenience to be waited on, they take your order, drop off your food and MAYBE if you’re lucky come back to see how everything is and bring drink refills. But most likely, you won’t see them again until they are bringing the check and not wishing you a great evening or great day as they drop it back off after you pay. If I go somewhere, I don’t expect a lot but after witnessing this every time we’ve been there I have to assume poor training or poor people skills. Even the host stand is always chaotic and you feel like you are an inconvenience by being there. I wish I could give this small business a better review because it’s a great atmosphere but I can’t stand...
Read moreProbably the worst latte I’ve ever gotten. I ordered the pumpkin spice latte with almond milk. It was $5.62 for a small I tipped $1 so $6.62(slightly over an avg price but I’m willing to pay for a good latte). It was bitter and flavorless. I did not taste spices or even anything sweet in it. The young lady I placed and order with was nice but the ordering experience was very awkward. I ordered it at the hostess stand and it took about 10 mins for it to come out. While I was waiting I was really sure why it’s was taking so long and I didn’t see anyone making it. I also did not notice an espresso machine so I wonder if they just used regular coffee. All in all I think this place is trying to do too much and should just call themselves a “family restaurant”. Then when they sell bad coffee it’s to...
