People actually eat here? Walked in, dirty tables everywhere. Someone walks through and says something about how much is going on in some back room. Eventually comes back and seats a couple in front of us and totally blows off their request to sit at a nice table by the window. Instead she puts them at a high table against a brick wall under the TV in the bar. I would say quite haughty she was. We left. Good luck Lakehouse.
Response: Mark, Your focus seems to be the dirty tables. Although it was a pretty bad first impression with dishes sitting in front of empty bar stools as well as tables in both the dining area and bar. The place was not busy at all, I would say dead (which we thought was strange on a summer weekend at lunch) The biggest issue was the hostess if that is what she was. The couple in front of us were unhappy when we arrived and had been waiting a long time per our discussion with them. When the "hostess" finally did arrive she still did not seat anyone. All she did was complain about how much was going on someplace in the back and continued walking to the kitchen. By this time we knew the couple in in front of us wanted to sit at one of the dirty tables along the windows. They were all available in both dining areas except one. Eventually the "hostess" came back and the couple communicated their wishes which seemed very reasonable. The "hostess" without even looking at them said something to the effect of " no there is a better seat in here" and walked into the bar expecting them to follow , seating them at the high table in the back under the TV. Maybe that was the only clean table. That was the tipping point. Everything up to that point we could have overlooked but she obviously did not care at all about the people she was seating. All she had to do was bus the table and seat them where they wanted like any decent restaurant and hostess would do. Or at least get a busser, wherever they were, out there to clean a table. Maybe even apologize for the wait. Luckily she still did not come back to seat us and disappeared in the back again because it gave us a chance to reconsider and escape before being subjected to her attitude which it sounds like you have as well. We drove a long way to eat at your restaurant based on the impression you give on your website which seems to be exaggerated, only to be treated at best as an afterthought. It is not my first restaurant and not the first in Culver. It was a terrible experience. I think your response explains much. Once again good...
Read moreI have been here before and had much better experiences, however this last visit was not great. To start we wanted to sit outside and we’re told we couldn’t even though there were tables, we had a party of six and we’re told they would not seat us at the 12 top because it was too big and that we could try to squeeze into a 4 top. (There were 2 tops they could of combined with the 4 top to accommodate but didn’t offer). They were out of salmon which was disappointing. My husband ordered chili with his meal and then 30 mins after we order the waitress came to tell us they didn’t have anymore, which is odd because the chili should of been out long before she told us this. They offered to give him double potion of his other side but when it arrived it appeared to be a single portion, and we were charged the price of the soup. Then the Caesar salad my daughter ordered did not have croutons because they were out but didn’t mention that when ordering not a huge deal but it left the salad then to just be lettuce, cheese, and dressing. The mashed potatoes were cold when arriving along with the steak (flavor of the steak was great, but the meat was cold) the waitress was pleasant but just seemed confused, asked us about orders that were not ours and came back twice to double check the one drink I ordered. The kids chicken strips and fries were extremely small potions for the French fries even for a kids meal! Most the issues were small but when added up became numerous. We wanted to have a nice night out and really it became a disappointment. We did not talk to the manger about everything because we were just ready to get out of there we had a not very happy baby with us at the time (partly why we wanted to sit outside in the...
Read moreThis was my first time coming back since a few years ago, and when we came, I was so disappointed that I do not think I will ever be back (mind you we live an hour away now). We ordered crab cakes that are on their menu, was expecting kind of like hockey puck shaped "cake" to come out, they were in a ball shape and the size of a small bouncy ball (I am talking smaller than long john silvers hush puppies), FOR 14 DOLLARS, 4 small little crab "cakes". So our meal already started out disappointed. They had fried fish (lent season), I ordered that, and my husband ordered corned beef or pastrami sandwich (it's been a couple weeks from date of writing this). There was barely any seasoning to the fish, my green beans came out cold, I asked for some new ones, moments later right after seeing something went into a microwave it beeped, they came out, sure they were hot BUT you put them in the micro to guarantee they wouldn't be sent back. Not to mention my green beans had too much seasoning the second time around that I didn't even want to eat them. the pastrami my husband had was practically $20 and came with very little meat and very little dressing (and he asked for extra dressing). The sandwich was more bread than anything, he didn't even eat half of it. After spending $100 here on food and a couple drinks each I really don't think we will ever be back after the way this last time went. I could have gone somewhere else and spent half of what I did and got better food than I did the...
