The Original Root Beer Stand — Restaurant in Culver

Service Was super fast cost was moderate priced for most things. Coney dog first bite the flavor the taste was amazing and then boom the heat hit. I wasn't really expecting that wish,they had a way to make the Coney sauce without that extra burn. That follows behind it because it did. Have an amazing flavor till the heat kicks in. Hot dog and bun was perfect. Just way too hot for our family's taste. And normally when we do the b and k or a and w root beer, we buy a 12 to 24 pack each time. We saw the photos for the Italian beef online thought it looked very similar to where my husbands would get near the border of Illinois when he was growing up ..when we got at home, it looked like roast beef that came from the deli that was warmed up and cheese on top of it it And no ways near the same amount of meat on our sandwich that was shown in a previous photo that was posted to their website. Was very, very disappointing. Cheese fries were amazing ...fries were crispy. Cheese sauce was perfect. Onion rings, we're awesome. Maybe a smidge over cooked, but still had a really good flavor with them, breaded tenderloin awesome. Pizza puffs were amazing. Root beer was very surpy, sweet and flat. Not sure if this is how their root beer is compared to other root beer stands because we hadn't had it before. We also got a barbecue sandwich. It was a little skimpy on the amount of meat that was on there but Had a good flavor We definitely will be back for the fry's. Onion rings, tenderloins, pizza puffs, corn dogs and if they change their sauce to where it's not hot or come across with a milder sauce for their Coney. We definitely will really be hitting those. Because everything was perfect on that with the exception of the heat. But we won't purchase the Italian beef. Based on what we got last time...

I have been there 4 times this season and everytime something is wrong with my order. One time they made me a malt instead of a shake, another I ordered 2 double bacon burger get home one of them only has one pattie on it, another another time I ordered a shake got givin 2 frosties instead and some how paid for four both of them, and this last was a malt instead of shake. I have been going to the root beer stands over 20 years and quality has gone down. I hope the next time brings better luck because at this point I think it has nothing to do with my luck. We do road trips to Root Beer Stands all over the country. Tasted Root Beer from California to New Jersey so far. This place is SO SPECIAL ! Root Beer that is sweet, full bodied, and has a very slight spicy-ness. It rolls on the tongue so nice, leaves no after taste, AND stands up to ice very well. THIS IS GOOD STUFF!!

The Staff is GREAT!!! The afternoon we were there, Town of Culver had some problem that made all the businesses close. But the nice folks at The Original Root Beer Stand made sure we could taste there wonderful Root Beer and SPECIAL Ice Cream Sandwiches!! It was well worth our drive from Rockford, Illinois to visit this Old Time Stand with REAL hospitality !
