I've been struggling about writing this review for a month or two because I don't want to talk bad about any place, but I think it's important that people know what to expect.
My wife and I love LB's food. It's really fantastic. And we were regulars until about month or two ago. And I have to say, it's been a bummer waking up on a Sunday morning and not going because it is literally the only Mexican food I like.
But man...customer service did us in. Unfortunately my son has an odd dairy allergy that doesn't allow him to have liquid dairy, ie milk, whipped cream, yada yada. And we ordered him the same thing every time - the pancakes with nothing on them since they come with a caramel/milk sauce and whipped cream. And a month or two ago my wife was ordering his food, thought she ordered them the way we literally have for months straight, but they came out with the full toppings. No big deal, right? We told them, and the first response was, "You will have to pay full price because you never told us that these needed to be plain." That's probably not verbatim, but you get the point. I mean...we've ordered the exact order for months. And when my wife raised the concern with the owner, she told us that the wrong order was totally our fault. And then when my wife went to talk to her about it, the owner dug in and argued with my wife. The owner, during the conversation, even made the comment of, "I can't believe you would talk this way in front of your kids." In a conversation where my wife never cursed, raised her voice, etc. She literally just expressed that she was unhappy with the customer service.
So to wrap up this long story...yes, the other reviews about the poor customer service of LB are correct. Go here long enough and you'll see the service first hand. And yes, the other reviews about the great food are also correct. But to me, the bad service outweighs...
Read moreLake Burrito... am I biased to this location because I live 10 minutes away? Or because their family and staff have been so friendly through the years that I now consider them my friends? Maybe... but that does not take from the fact that LAKE BURRITO is a better version of those two burrito chains everyone knows about. From the local fresh ingredients to their smiles every time you walk in, they are just BETTER. They have your typical menu ready to serve... burritos, tacos, quesadillas or maybe you want to skip the tortillas and go for a bowl!! Lake Burrito also serves a good breakfast on only on Saturday and Sundays with a very tasty menu available. Drink choices can be either their Mexican COKE bottle or a self serve COCA-COLA fountain drink. Once you are done with your food you find out you are NOT done because there is always room for dessert!! Lake Burrito serves these amazing WAVE POPS (frozen popsicles) that we just can't get enough of. My favorite flavors are PASSION FRUIT and COCONUT while my wife loves their CHOCOLATE flavored wave pop. The next time you are near exit 17 on 400 and are thinking about eating at one of those other burrito chains, you should you really stop by LAKE BURRITO instead and see what i'm talking about!!! As LAKE BURRITO once said "A burrito is a clear example that what matters is on the inside!".

Read moreI love the breakfast on the weekends but the regular daily menu is about on par with a Chipotle (not bad but not special either). The main problem with breakfast is that it comes to the table cold - probably because many of the ingredients are room temp. 20 seconds in a microwave would make a difference (yes, I just said that). The food would probably get five stars from me if not for the other areas that need major improvement. One of the regular cashiers (the only gringa) seems to always have a sour attitude no matter how hard I try to be friendly. The coffee is delicious but they ONLY have milk and sugar available - no artificial sweeteners at all. The paper coffee cups need either a sleeve or a need to be double cupped to be able to carry back to the tables. I've never seen lids for the coffee cups either. The staff doesn't seem to proactively brew coffee and waits until the coffee is completely gone before starting to brew more. The staff struggles with the breakfast orders - chances are they will ask you what you ordered multiple times before finally bringing the correct order to your table. With some basic improvements, this could be a much better place. I still go for the breakfast but I would probably be there once or twice a week if they tightened up...
