Once again, a surprise visit to this wonderful restaurant (my third and my friend's first time). This time, we took the evening away from our regular location and went south to Cushing to Pueblo Viejo.
The atmosphere, music and those patrons being served are treated so wonderfully here, and the food is absolutely outstanding!!
My friend ordered the tamales dinner with rice and beans, which were so superbly made and reported that it was the best that she had ever dined on. With the white queso added, it just hit the spot to perfection.
I, personally, selected a new choice, the Fajita Quesadilllas (Steak), which were so THICK, compared to those at other restaurants. Three of those was a meal and a half to me; therefore, I made sure to take the remaining one home and I will be enjoying it tonight.
The guacamole dip for our chips was soooo delicious, and we were able to save enough to take some home with us. For me, I was not much of a guacamole fan until my friend introduced me to some of the places she had been served. Therefore, having this HUGE bowl (IMHO, it was huge) for chip dipping was absolutely out of this world!!
When asked about dessert, our served, told us about cheesecake...I asked her to, slowly, say that word again, cheeeeesecake (lol). My friend asked about the choices, and she said, obviously, the magic word of "tortoise" which included chocolate and regular cheesecake. I wish I could show everyone a photo of the combo. It had to be at least six inches in height. For the price, it was so worth it, and we ordered a second one to go.
Even with all the food, you have to notice that "Mission Viejo" is engraved in each booth, even on the tables, themselves!! Located off the main areas of dining, this is well worth the drive to spend an hour (or more) with a great meal and great, peaceful conversations with those around you.
Again, we were so fortunate to get Carsey as our server. She is such a top-notch server, and I'm sure that everyone who is served by her gets the best service EVER!!!
Once again, a...
Read moreI ordered the poblano chicken for lunch today. The spinach and mushrooms were good, and the corn sauce over the chicken had great flavor — but unfortunately, the chicken itself was so dry and overcooked that I could barely cut through it, even with a serrated knife. I ended up tearing off small pieces just to get some protein, but it was extremely salty and only barely edible when mixed with the underseasoned spinach to balance it out.
When I mentioned this to the waiter, he simply made a noise, took the plate away, and brought the full bill — no apology, no offer to replace the meal, nothing. To make matters worse, someone started mopping the floors right next to us with a strong-smelling cleanser, which really didn’t help the appetite.
Between the poor service, the unappetizing meal, and the lack of basic courtesy, I won’t be returning. On the bright side, the person I was dining with did enjoy their food — so maybe I just made the wrong...
Read moreThis was some of the best food I have had IN AWHILE!! Period! The first time we came; I got the chicken skillet (no mushroom) & my husband got the beef skillet. Wow! Everything about this was perfect & so satisfying. First of all the rice had such good flavor on its own. The meat was fresh & tasted really good, had good seasoning. The queso was perfect and the jalapeños were a good addition!! We came back a few day later. This time on a Sunday & the place was packed! Parking was a little crazy! So you know you came where the food is good! We got our food to go, both time, so we did not have to wait. The second time, I got a chicken chimichanga, no beans, extra rice! This was my first chimichanga and it was perfect! My husband got the beef and was happy with his too. We love this place! It’s our new “go-to” Mexican place in the Drumright / Cushing area! We usually get a large queso, it is the best!!!!!! They give you plenty of chips and their...
