Pueblo Alegre Authentic Mexican Food — Restaurant in Daingerfield

So nice having a different Mexican restaurant in the area! The food was fresh and closer to North Mexico cooking than Tex Mex which seems to be the more popular menu. Hubby enjoyed the Chili Colorado Burritos as well as the homemade salsa and guacamole. The chips were very fresh and hot when they arrived at table. I enjoyed my plate with a beef enchilada, a pork tamale, and a cheese chili relleno. Now, the enchilada and the relleno were standard size while the tamale was the size of two Texas tamales rolled in one. I ate my refried beans and rice as well. All of it was fresh and very good. Hubby was feeling very hungry so we ordered three tacos as well. Something to remember: the plates for the Grande Combinations are the size of 14 inch platters! The food was quite good, the service WAS NOT. I do not need a waitress who thinks it is funny to go back and forth like a simple-minded child pulling my plate back and forth, teasing about "Do you want this . . . or not . . . do you want this or not. . . " Over and over again. She did the same thing with the menus.

How stupid can you be? I don't need to be teased over whether you are going to give me a menu, much less my food. GROW UP! This is totally inexcusable for any waitress to behave.

Was the food good? Absolutely. Will I ever come back after the way the waitress acted? NOT A CHANCE. Will I spread the good word about how good the good was? Not a chance but I will talk loudly and often about the service....

Very over priced. Soft drinks and tea is $4! Entrees are decent but nothing exceptional and pricey. The BIG PROBLEM was they served us the broiled chicken salad and it was horrible and tasted like dish soap. No joke. The waitress even stated that something was wrong with it and thought it may have been the Ranch dressing. But that wasn’t true. It was the chicken. It was rancid. Anyway, she came and took it away and we told her not to bring us another one. When we went to pay the bill she refused to take off the price of the meal. I mean just refused! It was so strange. So we told her it’s either you take off the meal or you don’t get a tip. She said that’s fine! Don’t go here. Waste of money and they don’t care if they lose...
