❗️ Confession: Gatekeeping Tacos 🌮
I’ll admit it – I usually don’t review my favorite spots. They’re already busy enough, and the thought of a two-hour wait due to viral fame is unappealing. But this year, I’m changing that. (Check out my other reviews as I start sharing all my hidden gems.)
In my opinion, there aren’t many great taco spots in Dallas. Salsa Verde is a popular choice, bustling with mostly Hispanic visitors due to its affordability and fantastic taste. Revolver Taco Lounge offers the best premium tacos, though at Dallas prices, and is tucked away in Deep Ellum.
Enter Al Chile Taqueria. With multiple locations, it has become somewhat of a chain like La Banqueta, Cesar’s, and El Tizoncito. However, this particular location stands out, offering some of the best-tasting tacos I’ve ever had.
Tacos: Not all tacos are created equal. While they offer the standard cuts of meat found at reputable taquerias, the cabeza (head), lengua (tongue), and tripa (get it crispy!) here are exceptional. These are cuts I usually avoid elsewhere because they often taste gamey, but at Al Chile, I skip my usual al pastor and bistec for these.
Other Food: For quesadillas, I recommend the Tinga (spicy chicken). If you must get a burger, be sure to add suadero (thin belly meat) for an extra kick.
The Flip Side: They don’t sell bottled water, but they do offer mineral water, various Jarritos flavors, and of course, Mexican Coke. The ambiance can be hit or miss, and it’s more of a to-go spot for locals. They always have a TV playing music, which adds to the atmosphere.
Pro Tip: There’s an amazing dessert spot next door, so grab a bottled water there before coming to Al Chile, and head back for dessert afterward. Also, sign up for their rewards program for a nice birthday discount.
All in all, this place is fantastic. We’ve brought friends from Monterrey, Chihuahua, and other parts of Mexico, and they all agree that these are some of the most authentic tacos in the area. The salsa is spicy (as it should be), but the tacos are so flavorful on their own that I sometimes forget to add it. Buen...
Read moreHappened upon this taqueria when leaving enterprise rental about a week ago last Tuesday morning. Wanted breakfast, but this location doesn't serve breakfast, only the Hampton location. Best service person- Andrea greeted me and was very kind and helpful! Answered all my questions, offered suggestions and a Jacaica sample when I decided to buy a Jacaima drink, the cup was a good value size for $4!
I also ordered the 4 birria tacos with consume, side of chopped onions/cilantro, limes & salsa! All very fresh, however did street tacos get smaller? These were the smallest street tacos I personally have ever seen, they are tasty, but not much cheese pull! I was quite full after eating and have been craving more!
Also ordered the cchocolate cake flan, the flan topping was good, but the cake to me was dry. For my buddy I ordered the chorizo with quest taco. Packed with chorizo not as much cheese.
There is a drive-thru, but I went in since it was my 1st time there. Small, yet quaint and clean.
Going next to Hampton location...

But I proceeded to put in my order, cuz my bf had starved me all day and I was not going to be feasting off Taco Bell's savage menu at all. As my plate was handed to me (which I devoured) I notice they had my supposed to be normal size tacos in a miniature to go fry container. When I got to da ride and opened up my fry container box, it had two lil ol mini mouse size AZZ queso tacos in there. I'm like I didn't order from the kids menu dis time.😐I was mad 👿 as hell. But I still ate em tho, my consomme was banging,on point it was. That's the only thing that saved me from starving dat nite. I sipped on da consomme after my tacos was slurped up n 2seconds.That hot chip challenge rojo salsa dey got in yonda is unmatched foreal. I think that mix chile wit devil juice 🔥🥵 n da sauce. But tacos were good with 🧅 onions and...
