Strap in for the absolute trainwreck that is Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen at 39640 Lyndon B Johnson Fwy, Dallas, TX 75237. This place is straight up a vibe killer, like someone took a decent restaurant concept and yeeted it into a dumpster fire. Our fam of five (two adults, three gremlins) rolled up from the highway thinking we’d get some solid eats, but nah, we got a one way ticket to Regret City. This ain’t a dining spot, it’s a cursed Reddit thread come to life. Let’s talk about the food, or as I’m calling it, the plateable war crimes. The barbecue ribs and chicken tenders combo, a fat $21, was a total scam. The ribs? Bruh, these were soulless, dry as a bone in a horror movie, with BBQ sauce that tasted like it was brewed in a hater’s basement. No love, no flavor, just straight up betrayal for your tastebuds. The tenders were just mid, like something you’d nuke in a microwave and forget about. Fried, bland, and giving zero effort, like a group project partner who just shows up for the credit. The rice? Yo, this was some next level shade in grain form. Clumpy, tasteless, like an Asian chef got beef with the world and decided to ruin our day. It was giving “I’m mad and you’re gonna feel it” energy. The salad? Just a sad boi pile of wilted greens with dressing so basic it could’ve been labeled “Water but Sadder.” It was edible, sure, but lowkey felt like I was chewing on depression. For $21, I wanted a meal, not a reason to cry in the group chat. The service? Bro, our server was moving at the speed of a Windows 95 update. I deadass thought he had a stroke mid shift and nobody clocked it. Mans was out here ghosting us harder than a Tinder match after one date. Drinks drier than a desert, kids’ marinara mess looking like a crime scene, and us begging for napkins like we’re in a post apocalyptic movie. Refills? Lmao, good luck. The whole staff was on some “we’ll get to you in 2035” energy, leaving us to fend for ourselves while the place descended into chaos. Speaking of chaos, the vibes? Absolutely unhinged. This place was louder than a TikTok sound on loop. Screaming kids, bros cackling like they just discovered memes, and some dude at the bar yelling at his phone like he’s beefing with Siri. My ears were begging for a break. The lighting was giving haunted house, and the whole spot felt less “family friendly” and more “survive this if you can.” Every bite was interrupted by some kid yeeting a fork or a table of Karens losing it over their sweet tea. For a $83 bill with tax and tip, I expected food, not a full on mental breakdown. Cheddar’s isn’t a restaurant, it’s a cursed side quest you didn’t sign up for. Those ribs and tenders? A $21 scam. The rice? A hate crime. The salad? A Reddit sob story. The server? Probably still lost in the void. If you’re in Dallas, swerve this place like it’s a sketchy DM. Save your coins and your sanity, fam.

Comfort food with large portions. Cold beer on top. Nice friendly people.

Update: I don't know how this place stays open. WE decided to give them another try today around 4pm. The hostess told us to go order at a counter, which we tried to do. we waited. And waited. Asked her again 10 minutes in - she said she would send someone out to take our order. So we waited some more - still no one, after 30 minutes and asking 3 times for someone to help us we have up and left. no one acknowledged us as we walked out - maybe it was because the sewer fumes you could smell in the bar area had made it too hard to do their jobs, or care that they had one. No more. Save your time and money and go some place (preferably a local business) that appreciates you and your business. I want to like this Cheddars location - it is close to my home, and we love the vegetable plate option. But every time I decide to give it a try, it is a huge disappointment. We only do takeout because the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The takeout staff seems to be spending more time on their personal phones, and not attending the togo area than taking care of customers, and I don't ever remember a time when they got our order right. How hard can a vegetable plate be? I guess pretty hard! It took over 30 minutes during a slow period to get our food. A perfect example is the photos I took of the croissants we ordered. Same order - completely different look and taste. The red beans and rice seemed to have hot dogs in it instead of sausage, and the fries were so cold they were inedible. Presentation is a joke - there is none. This used to be a great value, but no more. Save your money and go somewhere that appreciates your business.

The floors are so disgusting at this establishment!! Keep reading to see what excuse the manager on duty told me! Smh

I have been coming to this cheddars for over 20+ years! I have never had a bad experience in this establishment until now! It’s been about a year since I’ve been last. My friend and I went for an after work dinner. Went to sit at the bar because no one was at the bar…. couldn’t. There was no clean areas to sit at (staff was behind the bar 😒). Bar countertop was dirty and the amount of food, napkins, and straw wrappers under the chairs looked like toddlers been sitting there allll day!

Decided to ask host if we could get a table instead. She walks us all the way to the back sitting area to a table that once again looks like it hasn’t been cleaned all day! Food under the table, table still had crumbs on it! I asked the host if they had someone to clean the table and floor. She said “they clean it at the end of the night”……….. What???? I then pointed out to her that there was trash strolled all the way down the pathway we took to the table and that it needed to be cleaned. She said they were short staffed. I asked her if I could speak to a manager…..

The manager comes….. I ask him “sir as a manager, are these floors acceptable to you?” His response was “Oh this isn’t my normal location.”……. WHAT????!!! He then also says that they are short staffed and he is just trying to keep the restaurant “afloat” and they are really busy. There were soooo many empty sections so I didn’t understand what he was getting at besides just having no care about how the establishment he is CURRENTLY MANAGING appears. He never tried to pick up the vacuum broom thing that was right there to just try to pick up a little. Instead of using his energy to tell me why they aren’t clean, a good manager would just say let me get this cleaned up for you real quick, or I’ll get someone over here right away!

Needless to say, we left! I could never eat at an establishment that is carelessly dirty to the public eye! I can only imagine how the kitchen looked! No thank you!!!!! We went to Pappadeaux instead.

As an owner of a hair salon, I am familiar with health and sanitation. I take it serious in my salon because it’s important to me as well as wanting to ensure our guest are comfortable and know there services will be rendered in a clean environment. This is also disappointing that they don’t care about health and sanitation in a EATERY especially after COVID.

I’ll never go back to this...

Went in and there was hardly 20 people in there. We were seated tgr waitress had one table she was actually sitting across from the guest in the booth. She took our order and drinks and disappeared about 6 mins later she came and apologized she said she was waiting on the tea to brew okay cool. I ordered my son food then mine my salad came our crossiants came and didn't see her again for another 3 or 4 mins finally she bought the first guest her ticket then my salad I start eating the knats are just flying everywhere it's a shame you need a fly basin to sweep away the knats in there. Finally food came out my order but then she picks up the wrong order for my son. Bring 5hat back disappears for 5 to 10 mins by this time another party is seated she comes get there order and goes back to the kitchen. After disappearing again another waitress comes to get the same people order because just that quick she looses the order. Mind you we are still waiting on my son Burger that was order 10 mins before these people even showed up. I have eaten most of my food and we are waiting so out of frustration my son says don't even worry about it. Soon as he said that the waitress comes with the burger he took two bites and was ready so then I get up because she never came back to get two to go boxes from the hostess he brings them wait another 10 mins she hadn't bought the ticket so when she she see me head to the front she runs out with the ticket I don't dine and dash I have licenses behind my name I will not jeopardize behind 50.00. Not one time did she ask if we needed anything or was our food okay refill on tea. Nothing so I decided not tol leave her a tip. I then realized I left my copy of the ticket there so if I am charged more than the 55.56 that was presented to me I'm going to cooperate. Horrible service and the knats will beat you to your meal. Cooperate need to do an undercover boss at...
