The interior was nice, the place was was colorful but I was very disappointed with the food. No chips and salsa to start and when we asked they said that's a separate order (I don't know what kind of mexican restaurant doesn't give chips and salsa) the wait time for the food wasn't bad but the food itself was horrible. No flavor whatsoever, I had the Cuban torta and the dish itself was about $9.25 and all it came with was the tasteless torta, not even fries or any kind of side. My mother had tacos and they only give you 4 tacos for $8 which is again, ridiculous. The tacos De pastor had a disgusting minty taste to it I have no idea how, no exaggeration I spit out the food. When we got the bill my jaw dropped, a whopping $87. This is the most tasteless overpriced place I have ever eaten at. I have no problem spending upwards of $100 in dining with my family but that is only if the food is worth it and you get a lot of food. I could have spent the same amount at any restaurant on Jefferson or bishop arts and guarantee I would have had left overs. The only good thing about this place was the service, the waiters were very attentive but too bad that doesn't make up for the lack of quality in the dishes they serve. Never gonna come back to this place ever again.
Response to the owner: when a torta costs $9 i expect some kind of side not just the sandwich. I called it overpriced because it simply wasn't enough food for the price. Also we did not order any appetizers or desserts and one person had a alcoholic drink. still way too much money for...
Read moreWe had a local take us to this wonderful place for lunch and it was so good, we also came back for dinner because it was my brirthday and my choice. Everything from the black bean soup, to the chips and guacamole to the rib eye tacos, lengua and also the pork tacos was just fantastic. They even surprised me with a collective birthday song and many of the guests chimed in. The restaurant gave us the flan and that was delicious. Even a nearby lovely female guest was super kind and ordered an extra corn bread cake for us to celebrate together. The service from all of the servers were so attentive, professional and kind. i tipped much bigger than usual because of their kindness and great service. I just loved this place from their clean style, great service and fantastic food. The food was so authentic and really spot on. i hope many others, outside of the local mexican community, will be lucky to find this wonderful place to eat. Thank you everyone at El Tiz for my fun...
Read more(Edited Review) I went back again because I was going to make rajas con queso at home but I couldn't find good poblano peppers at Fiesta Mart which is very close to this place, so I decided to give it a second chance, be aware that this place is more on the texmex than Mexican. The rajas were made with cream cheese and I don't even know wich kind of pepper they use to make them, I think it was the bell pepper. (First review from about a month ago)Tacos are very good but I order a sope and it's not a sope what they use, they use a tortilla full of oil, I don't recommend ordering it. Customers Service was excellent.
