So I was laying on my bed at 5:45 on a Friday when my husband shows me this Facebook video of this massive baked potato. Jokes were made about the butter not being enough for my mother (she enjoys a little potatoe with her butter). I’m shook, y’all. He said “Oakcliff” and I said, “Do you want one?” He replied, “Heck yeah!” So I told him to get his shoes and off we went from Mesquite for this Goliath of a potato. There are no words that accurately portray the gravity of this potato situation. Is it big? Hell yea! Is it stuffed? More than a Thanksgiving turkey. Does it taste good? Good? No. It doesn’t taste good, it’s AMAZING. I FEEL THIS POTATO IN MY SOUL, YA’LL. This 👏 potato 👏 touched 👏 my 👏 soul. The sausage has a great flavor, the beef is tender and sometimes you find chunks of it like hidden treasures under the pound of cheese (don’t quote me on that, it might not be a pound). This potato is loaded with the perfect proportion of butter, cheese, sour cream, beef, sausage and bbq sauce unlike any other. For the low, low, price of $12 this potato can nourish your soul (and...
Read moreI'm very disappointed. I've eaten Koolys for a few years now and never had a problem. I called in an order from Uber Eats. I asked for extra bbq sauce on my potato. I had no sauce on my potato and no sauce on my link sandwich. My potato is cold and has a ton of grease in the bottom of the container. The link sandwich has a bunch of grease at the bottom too. That's not sauce. It's grease. I called back up there to let them know just for him to tell me to call Uber eats. They'll do something for me because their potatoes don't be cold. Sir, I eat Koolys but today is not the day mines was hot. Koolys is literally a 5min drive from my house so it wasn't the driver's fault. They were here on time. That's why black businesses get criticized because they have no customer service skills and just have bad business. It won't be a tremendous impact, but I won't be eating here anymore. We spend too much money for bad service that...
Read moreI visited for the first time last Friday and I’m not sure if I’ll be back. When I walked in and approached the counter, I was looked at as if I was interrupting a family reunion or something. The lost look on my face should’ve been a clue that I had never been there but I guess not. I tried the “Lightweight” stuffed potato w/ chopped beef and it was really good. It’s so big that I ate off of it twice so I got my moneys worth for sure. At first I was wondering why one basic potato was $16 but again, I ate twice off of it so it makes sense.
I may give this place another chance soon but the customer service needs a little work. No one was rude to me but it just wasn’t what I imagine customer service to be. I did mention that it was my first time there to the lady who handed me my order but it didn’t seem to matter. What I mean is, a proper salutation would’ve made the experience a little better on my way...
