Lisa's Soul Food Cafe — Restaurant in Dallas

It was my first time going. I'm going to give it this rating because the greens were super salty and the mac n cheese was not a true soul food mac (more like Velveeta cheese sauce). Soul food takes time to make and if two staples are wrong it just kills it for me. Also, the lady at the food line just seemed like she was going through the motions.

Fyi have at least $50 on you because I guess it's they tend to have issues with credit card processing going down. I had literally just deposited over $400 just to have to go back to the bank to take out enough money for my mom and I.

Now, to what I ordered. I came for the oxtails but when i saw the smothered ribs I had to have them. I got those, mac n cheese, greens and black eyed peas. My mom got the chicken fried steak, mac, greens, broccoli and cheese casserole and cornbread. We also got a fruit punch and lemonade both of which were super sugary but hey that's the way it's done.

My only main gripes were that mac n cheese, greens and the lady working the line. Maybe she had something going on but I don't like feeling rushed or cut off when asking questions. I'm in the service industry so I will not let that make me give 3 🌟.

Highlights was some able bodied 81 yr old man asking my mom and I to take his tray of oxtails to the table and my mom promptly letting him know that she's a senior citizen too. He asked how old she was and she said she would be 70 next year. I thought he was going to have a stoke because she does look like she's in her 40s. We had a good laugh and I took the tray to the table out of respect for the elders 😁🤣😭.

I'm going to call tomorrow and make sure they read this review because they need to get on top of the kitchen. The laziness is coming through in the food. If Sweet Georgia Brown can get it right they can too! Just reading the reviews and getting people who care in the kitchen would have a line around the building.

FIX THE SALT IN THE GREENS. YOU ARE GOING TO KILL...

Walked in approximately 12:15 to meet some friends. I , myself never knew this place existed. Sat down about 15 mins to chit chat with my bestie and her mom... I then decided to get something since it smelled very good and they had the oxtails plate(almost $20)... Her mom did as well. I saw that they had a special $6.99 for chicken fried steak plate. I decided to get that. I decided not to eat there, so when I got to where I was going, I sat down to eat. The chicken fried steak fell apart. Kind of glad that the top came off because it was not good at all even after I drowned it with the gravy and also ketchup. The inside was ok. I ordered greens and yams for my sides and german chocolate cake for the dessert instead of the drink. The greens were ok because I am use to the glory greens out of the can. I sometimes mix my picked greens with the glory greens to make enough. The yams were disgusting. They did not taste like food, moreso like a dirty smelling towel or perfume like scent. After the first bite I was done. I really like yams but these were 😫... The German chocolate cake was not moist... The icing was ok tho. The lemonade was extremely sweet. Even with ice after it melts. Overall, I paid $7.57, I don't think there was love in this food, and for the grade of food they were serving, the prices are way too high! Even the staff was not so friendly. No greeting, no smiles, just mad faces and sharp talking when you ask a question. Thanks for the try, but no thanks. I will not waste my money again. Try living up the place or at least practice good customer service skills. 🤔🤦🏽‍♀️... Had better...

I wish I could give no stars. Customer service is everything. I visited this foul place on September 18th for my friend. She asked me to go over there and get her some food and I said okay. While on the phone with her trying to make sure I had her order correct one of the ladies at the front serving had a whole attitude. I'm on the phone trying to get the order straight and I did tell her that no one was behind me so I really didn't understand the rush. I told my friend unfortunately I will never come back here again for you. My total was $44.09. They put all of the food that I ordered in one Thin Walmart bag like. I asked for another bag because that bag was too thin I needed another bag, she handed me another bag to put the other bag in there myself and continued talking on the phone her cell phone. All black businesses are not professional. If this was not for my friend and I had ordered this food right when I would have got to the register I would have walked out. When people are spending their money it's an investment in your business it helps keep the people employed who you work for and if you're going to act like that and be like that you don't need to be in the restaurant business and especially not serving anyone.
