I first tried tamales from Luna's Tortillas a few years ago at the Latino Cultural Center's tamale festival. I loved them. I never got the chance to buy anything else from there until very recently, which I was very excited to do. I called ahead of time to order some tamales. When someone came to pick them up the staff there acted like they didn't know anything about the order and they were extremely rude. That was Friday. Part of the tamale order was frozen, and today (Tuesday) I decided to warm them up to eat. Immediately, a HUGE amount of mold was all over the tamales. Luna's Tortillas said that they'd swap them out for some pork tamales, and when getting to the restaurant they were STILL rude. They did not even want to look at the tamales with the mold on them. There are probably a ton of tamales in their freezer right now with mold all over them. I waited years to eat food from this place, and will surely not do that again. From looking at some of these reviews it looks like management has an issue with disrespecting people, especially when it comes to people they think aren't latino and/or can't understand Spanish así que déjame ser clara con ustedes. No hay ninguna excusa para la falta de respeto que han mostrado el viernes pasado ni hoy. ¡Son unas sinvergüenzas! It doesn't matter if someone is Black, White, Asian or anything else, you should respect your patrons especially when they're being respectful towards you. If you're going to be a restaurant, serve things that are edible. It's the least you can do.

If the fiestas that have been held on occasion at Luna's are any indication of what's to come, we are sure in for a treat. We recently attended the Cinco de Mayo fiesta and had a great time. The margaritas were flowing as was the tacos, enchiladas and buffet area. The atmosphere is one of family and truly history. The crowd drank and ate while reminiscing about good times. The band played a mix of jazz and Latin music that even had the older generation feeling young again. We ate the fajita tacos and enchilada plate and were thoroughly impressed. Tender fajita meat with great flavor and served piping hot, right from the chef's hand from the flattop. The enchiladas were flavorful and cheesy and full of flavor. This new location is sure to keep the Luna's Tortilla legacy alive and well for years to come. Follow us on Instagram at Picture it Dallas for more Dallas hotspots.

This place is tucked back off the road. It's a big building. Small tortilla making area up front. The host was a cute little lady. She sat us at an indoor table by the bar. We went for an outdoor concert but the patio seating was full. We had beef fajitas for one. Portions were large and my wife and I got full from sharing the meal. Margaritas were on the sour side, which is what I prefer. After eating, we were able to find a couple seats outside. The patio here is FANTASTIC! Set up nicely, lighting and water features make a beautiful backdrop. All the staff were working very hard to keep up with a busy night. Looking forward to going back and would recommend.

Wow! Luna's is open again! What an enjoyable surprise.

The building has both a tortilla factory and restaurant. You pass the tortilla factory as you walk in. The large windows allow you to see the workers making tortillas. The dining area is extensive. It's an open and roomy dining area, plus a very inviting large patio.

I am looking forward to the warmer weather so that we can take advantage of the patio by the water.

I've come here various times since finding out they were open again. The menu has a little bit of every home style "Mex-Tex" you can think of. They have their "family recipes" which are amazing. My favorite so far for lunch is the Tacos Dorados Y Tamale Platters. You can put together a combination of tacos and tamales, and it's very reasonably priced.

The tamales are soft and moist. I can only speak for the pork, which is seasoned well, tender, and moist as well. They have great flavor. The beef and al pastor tacos are appropriately savory too.

Some of the other dishes include the Stuffed Chicken Breast from the "Family Recipes" section. Stuffed with Poblano peppers, Monterey Jack cheese, and pico de gallo served with rice and veggies.

The servers are friendly and attentive. If you have a question concerning the menu, they are very knowledgeable about the different plates. Once again, I love servers who are attentive without hovering over the table. They are outstanding.

I am looking forward to...

I went here on the recommendation of some friends from my office as i had some business to do at a business very close by. They had obviously been here a couple times before because they were really recommending it. Well they were absolutely right to do so. The good old word of mouth can work just as good as Yelp does, well almost as good.

I had the enchiladas with mole sauce. I was impressed with the size of the serving. When I get a rolled enchilada plate any more I usually get two enchiladas. On this plate I got three. I really enjoy just getting egg and onion enchiladas instead of eating the chicken and they were glad to accommodate my request. They were served with beans and rice that were very good and were the right amount.

The mole sauce was delicious just like I remember having it in New Mexico. The sauce was slightly sweet and rich in its flavor profile while being mild on the spicy side. I found that I was trying to soak it up with my enchiladas in every bite, but there was so much of the delicious sauce there was still some left after I finished the last bite of enchilada.

I will definitely be back. There is not a lot of options in the area, but this place would be great even if it were...
