This place was an amazing place thay gave me and my family a place to stay when we were suffering Homelessness. The staff was amazing and friendly. The kindness threw out this place and the entire experience was just mind blowing!!! I love this place for everything that they did for my family and for myself!!! I definitely suggest this place if you or anyone you know has children under the age of 18 and is suffering Homelessness or is at risk of homelessness, the kindness found here is definitely God sent!!!!

Family Gateway is such a great place for families with children! Everyone there works hard to help families affected by homelessness. Even during this pandemic, they have continued to help families. You get three meals a day, have access to their learning center that help with the kids’ education, wonderful team that go above and beyond, and basic necessities like shampoo, blankets, etc. Thank you Family Gateway!

I went to Family Gateway in Dallas just to get a birth certificate… denied. These agencies get state funding to fight poverty and homelessness — but when a Black person shows up, the door closes. THIS is why so many of us are stuck without resources. It’s not laziness. It’s not coincidence. It’s manufactured just eating chilling and denying people cause they don’t care

This place does not really help those in need! If you want help I suggest you lie to them and tell them you're living on the streets otherwise they won't help. They never Answer their phone, never return messages, they ask you for proof of some things and when you bring that proof they still deny you help. I've called other organizations that all tell me to contact family gateway. THIS IS NOT A PLACE THAT HELPS THOSE IN NEED! THEY PICK AND CHOOSE WHO THEY WANT TO HELP. THEIR SERVICE IS NOT BASED ON REAL NEED! THEY BASICALLY LAUGH IN YOUR FACE WHEN YOU'RE ASKING FOR HELP. So again to anyone who needs help, just lie to them! Be ready to prove that you live in Dallas county, that might help, and be ready to prove that you're living in your car, on the streets or are about to be kicked out of a hotel.

How to get help from family gateway: Be ready to prove that you live in Dallas county and nowhere else. If you've been unfortunate enough to have had to move around a lot, out of state, out of the city or county DON'T LET THEM KNOW THAT! You can use your CURRENT snap benefits, medicaid case from Texas (Dallas county) and/or your kids enrollment in a DISD school as proof. Go to a hotel for the receipts and let them know that you can no longer afford it. I'm not sure how many days or weeks you'll have to have receipts for. Since shelters are pretty much full (if you don't go to a hotel) tell them you're sleeping in your car with your kids. DO NOT TELL THEM YOU HAVE A PLACE TO STAY! DON'T MENTION FRIENDS OR FAMILY THAT YOU MAY BE STAYING WITH! Maybe if you look homeless that may help also.

Again I'll reiterate that these people pick and choose who they want to help. It doesn't matter if you REALLY NEED HELP. There's somebody in the back office making decisions based on what you...

Edit: Never received a call back from a supervisor. The intake worker who was rude is simply on a power trip. Nothing more, nothing less. Galatians 6:7 is what she should keep in mind. Her name is RAYVONDA CURRY! Read original review below. 👇👇👇 I’m experiencing homelessness for the first time and I had no idea that people could be so rude and condescending!

I’m NOT Hispanic but moderately fluent in Spanish and speak both Spanish & English at home.

Spoke Spanish on the phone with an intake worker as I was attempting to ask her to hold on a minute while trying to ensure my child wasn’t playing in the bathroom (a child with a disability who could easily get into something quickly, like most children).

She IMMEDIATELY became offended, assuming that I was being disrespectful & argumentative (her words), all because I was switching back and forth between English and Spanish, as I was using Spanish PRIMARILY to talk to my child & mostly English to speak with her!

The result??

She tells me Family Gateway won’t move forward with me, even though they know I have a child who has a disability with me and we will be on the streets tonight!!!!

I’ve had some support from family and friends, but couldn’t imagine what it’s like for those who don’t have any support at all!!

Now, allegedly a supervisor will contact me. I don’t know if that will actually happen, but I would never be argumentative and aggressive (her way of tone policing a tone that wasn’t there) in the midst of a situation where myself and my child are about to literally be on the streets!!!

Is it that much of a foreign concept that those who aren’t Hispanic actually have learned a 2nd or 3rd language and speak it at home?!?

What the heck is going on with this...

I reached out to this Organization-last night on 2/22/2022 explaining my situation on how my daughter and I became homeless. because the incident happen in Tarrant county. I’m unable to receive assistance I was involved in a house fire that was not my fault but cause me now to live out my car until I found a lovely couple who open their home until I’m able to find shelter or help who lives in Dallas country will soon be homeless due to the lovely couple having really no space for my daughter and I. But still this organization family gateway turn my daughter and I away. I have no family here in Texas to help with anything. Can’t work because I work from home i have no wifi Service. I’m barely getting by. I was told to contact 211 in which I been doing that since being homeless I call 211 pretty much every day and get no where. Red Cross is the only one so far who cares enough to help with a couple nights in the hotel. It’s only so much they can help with. Iam grateful I appreciate all the help I can get. I never once thought a place who help people would turn my little family away due to a county Restriction well I will become homeless in Dallas County being these two lovely couples lives in Dallas County then what I do? My apartment complex told me I would be able to get out my lease due to not having any open apartments. My rental insurance still processing paper work I need help please. Only way I can see is ending it all I’m sorry but now I see why people takes they life. No one cares I lived a very honest life try to do the right thing but look I have no one to look out for me. I relocate to Dallas Texas thinking I would have a better life. I’m...
