As a writer, I’m drawn to little places that would fit right into one of my worlds. Original, family-owned spots that have as much character and charm as they do great products.
Olmo Market was the perfect end to a great outing with my mom. After grabbing burgers at Herby’s, I wandered next door, my quest senses tingling, to this place. I opened the door to find an open, homey shop selling exactly what I needed after a good burger—coffee.
I ordered a latte for myself and a regular coffee for my mom. We waited, and I soaked in the atmosphere, chatting with the kind people running the place, reveling in its vibe. They were my people.
When the coffee arrived, I took a sip.
BOOM! I was hooked. This was great coffee. And when my mom sat, drank hers in silence, and gave me a smile, I knew she had the same feeling. As we sat there, she said, "This is good."
And just so you know, I tried some of their homemade candy too—and yes, it’s good.
This is one of those places you don’t expect (like the Spanish Inquisition), but when you find it, you thank God and let its vibe and quality...

It’s awesome to see really dope and diverse local brands on their shelves, and I feel good knowing I’m supporting small, mostly BIPOC (some assuming here) businesses. I’ve found some great items, and can see myself running by often to restock my shelves or try new things as they come in. Chef Paul w/ Planta Potosí throws down on the weekly specials and I’ve eaten more tacos than I’m willing to admit to my doctor in the few weeks Olmo has been open. The desserts (including cupcakes from Neitly!) are not only vegan but delicious and I end up licking the crumbs off whatever containers they come in. If you’re in the area, it’s worth the stop. If you live around here, add this to your list of...
Read moreThe Matcha Horchata was kind of like a perfect first date. Unexpectedly smooth, surprisingly balanced, and it left me wondering if I should text it later. The matcha and horchata flavors blended so beautifully that I almost forgave my life choices. Almost.
The place also has an adorable little gift market inside, which feels like stepping into a curated Pinterest board. Shelves of chocolates, sweets, and pastries everywhere, including a truffle bar where you can mix and match like a kid in a very fancy candy store. I briefly considered moving in.
Final verdict: Get the Matcha Horchata, grab a box of truffles, and pretend you are living your best whimsical...
