Husband and I have Covid and are feeling really crappy, so I decided to order some caldo from Cactus, which we've never tried before. We each got an order instead of sharing and we are so glad we did, because it was SO GOOD that we would not have wanted to share! The caldo is packed full of nourishing veggies: big hunks of carrot, cabbage, celery, and potato, along with cilantro. Each of our soups contained a meaty drumstick and thigh, so I assume that is standard. We used a knife and fork to chop the veggies into more manageable sizes and pulled the chicken from the bone and it was just what the doctor ordered. Soup arrived still hot, which was great. Sopes were awesome too, great dough consistency and the meat was delicious (picadillo had a nice subtle spiciness and the deshebrada was super rich and flavorful). Chicharron Gordita was pretty good, but next time I'll get it with deshebrada. Overall a really great meal and I will definitely order...
Read moreTerrible today. I have come here for some time to support local shops and today I came and the pozole was super spicy.
I asked for extra cabbage to aid on the saltiness and advised the waiter of the issue and nothing was done.
I tried to simply eat the meat to try and enjoy a meal and it was simply unpalatable.
My breakfast consisted of 3 corn tortillas w cabbage and corn and a few chunks of meat. If you visit today 3/23 stay away from the pozole.
Or ask for a small taste prior to being charged for an item you will not consume.
Or maybe salty is your thing then this item is definitely a go to today.
I have the owner opportunity to rectify the problem and what I was told was that the owner refused to comp part or any of my plate.
This is the last time I come to this establishment. I supported you guys thru Covid and after...
Read moreTried this little hole in the wall last week. Small dining area but very clean and cozy. There was only one server but she was pretty attentive.
My boyfriend got a guisado de puerco en salsa verde w/rice and beans & I got the chilaquiles which came with a double portion of beans, bistec, and 2 fried eggs. He got a Mexican coke and I got an agua de Sandía. My son got a chicken quesadilla. The food had good flavor and portions were a good size.
The menu was definitely outdated in pricing. My advice is to design one in Canva and get copies printed/laminated at Staples. Our tab was $65ish for 2 adults and a child- I feel it was pricier than it should have been but we didn’t get a receipt just a written tab which had our jotted order down but no pricing.
I would come back since I felt the place was clean and...
