We have followed Sushi Rock through three different locations over the last 15 to 20 years and have come to know the owners well. The whole family works in the restaurant and they are very nice people. The fish is always fresh and they are always inventing new items that I have to keep pictures of to order on a future visit!
Among the amazing menu items are: (1) Wild Ride - a very spicy tuna hand roll with a toasted nori to make it easy to bite; (2) Angels - Unagi with a quail egg and spices; (3) Cassidy Roll - I ordered this SOOO many times they gave it a name and finally added it to the menu - it is spicy, smooth, crunchy and sweet all at the same time; (4) Waygu Truffle Nigiri - I never would have thought seared beef would be the thing to order in a sushi restaurant but this is amazing; (5) Home Smoke Salmon Sashimi - If I went to a deserted island and could eat only one thing this would be it - they smoke their own salmon holy cow; (6) Kanpachi Carpaccio - They came up with the most amazing sauce to go with kanpachi fish; (7) The "Cupcake" - I don't know if this is the right name, but they came up with an amazing combination of toro, roe, uni and gold flecks (picture attached) - I'm not much for uni as they can attest, but this is awesome; (8) Spicy Tuna Rice Cakes - the name says it all but there is a delicious sauce that gives a unique flavor that makes these amazing; (9) Oysters - they don't have them all the time but when they do they make giant oyster sashimi in the shell with yet another amazing sauce.
We try to go on Saturday afternoons after the lunch crowd thins to encourage the sushi chefs - Mark and Pearce to try new things. It's the best time. They get so busy in the evenings these days because they have become so popular that we enjoy the...
Read moreDeceptive practice. They should be called Suishi rip-off. I normally don’t write reviews. Three of us were there for lunch last Saturday. I was trying to impress my friends from Houston with the suishi in Dallas. We ordered a lot of items. We also ordered a bottle of sparkling wine. When we received our bill, they tried to charge us for two bottles and 63% more from the listed price. It was from 40.00 to 65. Listed price was 10 a glass so we decided to order a bottle instead. The waiter told us the price per bottle changed and was not updated. We asked for the manager. We had seen him around 5 minutes into our meal. The waiter got the nerve and lied about no manager because he is in the hospital. Why would i want to pay 65.00 a bottle when it was only 10.00 a glass. It would only be 60.00 for 6 drinks. They refused to correct our bill. Please see pictures. I will never set foot in this...
Read moreI have heard good things about Sushi Rock, so we took a drive to check it out. And, I can confirm the positive reviews are valid. It's not a big restaurant by any means. But do not let the small size fool you. As the name implies, the restaurant is themed in a Rock N Roll way. The restaurant played some good 80's rock songs while we were there. We were greeted by a courteous young man and we sat in a corner next to the Sushi bar. We started off with chicken karrage and it was easily one of the top we have had recently. We then orders salmon sashimi and it was amazing! I ordered the Rainbow Roll which is topped with various fish, delicious! As we ate,, more patrons walked in and they were welcomed with a "Welcome back!" It's easy to see that people love this spot! We also had a Caterpillar Roll that was so good! Sushi Rock definitely earned a spot in our sushi...
