At least one of the reviewers appears to have this place mixed up with another place in the mall. This quick serve restaurant is at the southern end of the Dallas Arboretum.
This is a pleasant outdoor seating area with a view of A Tasteful Place, White Rock Lake, and downtown Dallas. The restaurant is quick service - order at an order window and pick up when your number is called. The weather was brisk so we opted for hot food.
Country Style Panini $13.50 (Sliced Turkey, Parma Ham, Provolone Cheese, Sliced Tomato, Pesto Mayonnaise on Rustic Rosemary Focaccia Bread) The sandwiches were smaller than we expected, but turned out to be a reasonable amount of lunch food. This panini was quite flavorful and satisfying. The salty meats played well with the melted cheese and flavorful pesto mayo. The bread had a decent chew and complimentary flavor.
Tuscan Panini $13.50 (Sliced Chicken Breast, Sliced Tomato, Provolone Cheese, Boursin Cream Cheese on Rustic Rosemary Focaccia Bread) This sandwich was not as salty as the Country Style Panini and the flavor of the meat was more subtle. The provolone and Boursin cream cheese play the starring role in this sandwich. Overall, pleasant hot sandwich, but not quite as tasty as the Country Style Panini.
Soup of the Day - Chicken Tortilla Soup $7.50 - this is a non-traditional tortilla soup. It appeared to be comprised of mostly of soggy tortilla strips and was very thick and chunky to stir. The soup base was orange and viscous - not at all like the clear chicken stock we were used to. However, the flavor was fantastic with tomato, cream, Mexican spices and grilled chicken permeating the tortilla strips that were actually quite pleasurable to eat. Two small pieces of bread accompanied the soup and I made sure I saved a piece to wipe up the sides and bottom of the cup so I wouldn’t lose a drop of soup. The tortilla soup was my favorite part of the lunch.
Grilled Cheese Sandwich $7.50 - This was a simple grilled cheese sandwich and came with a bag of Ms. Vickie’s...
Read moreIt was a nice experience in general with being able to enjoy a drink with the view around of the gardens and skyline. My wife and I enjoyed a couple wines and Cubano but upon ordering the second glass of wine at 4:59pm, security rushed us out. Please consider not selling beverages your guests cannot actually enjoy at the time of closing if you demand they leave immediately. This dampened our experience and made us laugh as your staff close up the windows at 5:01 just after allowing us to purchase more. Sure, I should’ve been more aware of the time and maybe looked at the closing times of the gardens, but why are you selling drinks still at a point where it is impossible to enjoy them and absolutely no warning that you are about to...
Read moreA very popular and crowded spot near the mall in downtown dallas, it definitely does not disappoint. There might be a wait time so always plan ahead, and even if you have to wait the store has so much to see and buy on the ground floor. The atmosphere was great, and one thing that I like is the seasonal menu options. The food is so good, and make sure to save room for dessert. Will be back to try other options on the menu, great...
