The spillway at White Rock Lake is a jewel within the jewel of White Rock Park. It is beautiful at every time of year. In the summer when just the thinnest veil of water is running over the damn and across the spillway glistening like diamonds in the Sun. After a summer thunderstorm when water is Raging across the dam and rushing down the spillway in dark waves. Even in the winter on those rare occasions when everything is icy frozen and glistening in a different way. There's almost always a flock of some kind of birds resting or feeding there and in the duper pools you can see...

This little parking lot is tucked away and gives access to a trail by the spillway. Not as many benches as I would like, but the view along the dam is absolutely gorgeous, and the pumphouse is always picturesque. You can often see Great Egrets flying and hunting along the dam, and there is plenty of shady grass near the parking lot to spread a blanket and have a picnic. The parking lot fills up fast, though!
