I try. I try and I try with this place but unfortunately the only reliable thing about this place is the poor service matched with worse attitudes.
In the dining room, I have never received good service. The servers seemed rushed and overwhelmed even when there isn’t a lot of people there, they are rude and dismissive, and the service itself really couldn’t be slower. (I once got my drink while eating my entree, after the appetizers, as an example)
While most dishes I’ve ordered there were flat out bad, the pizza is actually really good so I decided to give the takeout a try, the location is convenient for me so I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt. I mean, how can you screw up take out pizza?
Let me tell you....So you’re meant to pick up your takeout order in the bar area and surprisingly there are actual takeout parking spots in their tiny lot. When I walked in the bar, it was very crowded, every seat and high top filled. As I stood at the corner of the bar, the three bartenders were puttering around not looking up at any of the multiple customers trying to get there attention. Finally a gentleman, seeing that I was being ignored, shouted at one of the bartenders for her attention. I told her I was there to pick up a take out order and she snapped “you need to go over there,” but didn’t specify where “there” was. I walked to the other side of the bar, wedged between a wall and a row of people, where I was greeted by more unfriendly female staff, “what do you want?” I asked if this was the takeout area and a server said yes then nothing. A young man asked for my name and I gave it to him, he said he would be right back.
So regardless of the fact there was no sign indicating where take out orders were to be picked up, the pick up location is probably in the most cramped possible place in the entire establishment. When the gentleman returned with my order and my receipt to sign, I actually had to lift the pizza over my head in order to get out of that claustrophobic corner of the bar.
It disappoints me beyond belief that the service here is so atrocious. It bothers me even more that because of its location and confusing popularity, there is no motivation for staff or management to change their attitude. I had vowed never to sit in that restaurant again but now I won’t even do takeout. Such a shame that service can completely taint an entire establishment; I honestly would never have written this review if my take out experience hadn’t been so awful, but they really just do not care here. If service or or basic consideration are important to you, skip this spot.
Initially I gave two stars but then I read a response from the owner lashing out at a reviewed trying to pose as a satisfied customer, evidently the owner isn’t sharp enough to realize his post is labeled “Response from Owner.” How embarrassing for that sad, sad excuse for a member of the service/hospitality...
Read moreWe’re from out of town and met with a friend here because it was in the middle. Parking was extremely tight, but we eventually found a spot. Wait was quoted 10 minutes but ended up being about 20, not a big deal. Restaurant was clean despite being busy. Ordered food and drinks and enjoyed everything we had. The steak bomb sandwich was incredible!! The service wasn’t great but we saw they were busy and was understanding. We originally closed out our tab but decided to reopen to order desert and another round of beers. No issues, but then a large party came in and didn’t have a spot to sit. We offered to move seats so they could put our table with the empty one next to ours to accommodate and they said yes. We moved with no hesitation, but was then left with no server since we were sat at the other end of the restaurant. When I went to the server to ask for another round, I was told that our table has been cut off. We had 5 coors light bottles in a 3 hour period, and also ordered food. I didn’t want to raise a fit so I just paid and left. But I’m in my 30s and have never been cut off before, even when drinking more at other bars.
I was shocked to be honest, to be treated so poorly the entire time and then we be cut off after offering to move tables to accommodate other guests. I’m from chicago, and this would’ve never been an issue. But still, I rate this place 5 stars because the food was excellent and being from the restaurant industry I wouldn’t want to hurt their reputation over one bad experience. Just putting this out there in case they see it and try to do better, or for someone else from out of town is aware that things here are different than the...
Read moreWent there for lunch today. Ordered two chicken antipasto sandwiches. They came back with no prosciutto flavor, no provolone cheese, but it had cheddar. That roughly sounds like the fajita wrap. Called over the server, told her, she was very confused and said she would check with kitchen. Came back, took our plates and said new ones would be prepared, while the rest of our group ate. No apology. 10 minutes later, two more wraps, no provolone. She told us the last sandwiches were correct, I still saw not Provolone. Sandwich was not good.
She dropped the check without clearing anything. Credit card was given to her, she brought back the check for signing, but didn't clear any plates. 7 of us at the table, all empty plates and garbage and no where to really sign the check. We signed it. She started to clear the table and knocked over my GF's beer, right into her. Again, no apology. Got some napkins, left them on the table and said she was taking the remaining portion of the beer to see if she could "save it". Never returned, no apology. Save it? Yeah, save it, I will never go back to this place. That is a ridiculous waste of money,...
