We stopped in for dinner while we were heading south on Rt. 1. We had a party of 7, which included 5 hangry sun drenched, water logged boys. Thank the higher being that we were blessed with Tyler as our server. He was kind, patient and had a blast with the younger boys. He also had great banter with the two moms that had their heathens in tow. Tyler kept the rolls coming and supplied said heathens with the blasphemous PLAIN butter (who on this green Earth eats plain butter at Texas Roadhouse??!!🤦🏻♀️😂 I’m kidding but seriously.) Anyway, I digress…. 5 of us got steak and 2 got salmon. Everything came out lovely and HOT. Tyler checked in regularly and made sure everything was good. He even made sure the milk was cold and served in a big cup. After all was said and done he brought over the saddle and (got the most pleasant woman who projected her voice SO well) to provide a great rendition of happy birthday with a side of pure embarrassment for one of the teenagers at the table. All in all great experience. Convinced if we had any other server, the experience would’ve looked so much different. Thanks Tyler!!
The only thing that didn’t sit right with us was when the manager came to our table. We wanted to give the manager on duty (guy in a red shirt with “training captain”) some positive feedback about our service. When we told him how great our server was and explained how happy we were with Tyler’s patience, we were met with “that’s an odd thing to say.” We asked why and his response was “well I’ve just never heard that before.” The words coming out of his mouth should’ve stayed inside thoughts😂. What he didn’t realize was the moms at that table in that moment were done with the day. The kids at the table were over stimulated and needed sleep. So YES patience was crucial to getting through serving us. Otherwise, it would’ve been a miserable experience had by all. We appreciated the fact that Tyler went out of his way to ensure every child at that table had what they wanted. Whether is was milk to pair with chilli, plain butter or the multitudes of ranch the boys consumed with their fries. He did it with a smile, never making us feel like a burden. When we ourselves knew how much of a burden it was in that moment. Servers don’t get enough credit for the work they do or for the amount of BS they need to manage on a regular basis. When the manager comes to the table and asks how everything is, they should truly listen to the response. If someone takes the time to give feedback it’s potentially a learning moment. Good, bad or indifferent. When it’s positive use that to inspire the employee to keep up the good work. If it’s negative try to use it as a training moment to improve for the next time.
Then again, what do I know? I’m just a mom with another mom, trying to feed a table of...
Read moreWe came in for Father's Day and knew it was going to be busy. I had visited pryer in the week and saw a sign on the door that said, if you plan on coming in on Father's Day after 3pm you could call and make a reservation. After seeing this I thought what a great idea, Ill call and make a reservation so we won't have a long wait on Father's Day. Boy was I wrong. We made a reservation for 9 people for 5. I called on the Thursday before a whole 4 day before. When I showed up they told me, I had to wait for my whole party to be there before we could be seated. (Which is annoying, but understandable). Once the rest of the party showed up they informed us that our table wasn't ready and that they were going to be splitting our party up into 4 at one table and 5 another a cross the way. With members of our party being handicap, we asked if they could sit at the table of 4 that was ready. (because they told us the table of 5 that they were waiting on had already been sitting for an hour and they should be leaving soon). After walking over past the table they said would only be about 5 minutes, we saw that the table was just getting there food/still eating. We showed up at 5:07pm and our whole party was sat by 5:47pm. (Very frustrating since we had a reservation). The host stand was not very helpful, after talking to the manager it got even worst. We had informed him of what was going on and he replied "we don't take reservations". (the sign was still hanging up). With it being Father's Day we understand that they are busy, however that was completely unacceptable. We just recently lost my dad and it was the 1st father's day without him and the management did not care about wha thad happened. All he did was "I'll comp your apps". (Gee thanks) The way they split up our party even confused the waiting staff, which was also frustrating, when every time our food came we would have to physically get up and walk over to the other table to share food or switch meals that were placed at the wrong table. Only good thing about this visit was our waiter and host, Anthony and Rachel they was great, very understand, and apologetic for the position the...
Read moreOn Saturday, December 4, 2021, my husband and I called the Danvers, Ma Texas Roadhouse "wait list" at 6:24 pm for 4 people. We clearly understood it was not a reservation but a wait list. We checked in at 6:39 pm with the front desk and were asked to wait in our car for a text that our table was ready. No problem. However, the 2 front desk girls we very busy "fooling around' with a young male worker and really were not focused at all on the patrons that had been obviously waiting a very long time and the new arrivals. We followed the directions and waited in our car for over an hour; finally went back into the restaurant and were told it would be another 15 or 20 mins before we could be seated. Now at the desk were 4 young people (2 girls taking your information and 2 boys) dancing to the music and hanging with the 2 girls supposedly handling the desk.
At this point, 8:00 pm, new patrons were arriving and immediately leaving when told it would be at least 30 mins to be seated. We still waited. At this point the manager arrived at the front desk (tall, big man) and hung over the desk with everyone else. He did ask how long were people waiting for a table and told about 1 hour and he didn't seem to address the issue at all. Finally after waiting almost 2 hours we walked out.
The manager totally showed no concern for anything going on around him with the patrons waiting so long, the front area and the staff.
The wait staff seemed to be working hard. I might ask why the 4 people at the front desk were not reassigned to another area and the manager take care of the front desk. Or why they needed 2 girls to handle (or mishandle) the front desk.
Unfortunately, they lost many patrons last night, including my party of 4 - we would never risk having that happen again.
The management staff needs to be reviewed! One point to make - we have gone to this restaurant many times but always sat at the bar where everything always went very well. We do know that all restaurants have an "off" night but this was...
