I'm traveling around again and stopped here for breakfast. This place was a nice, pleasant find. Rich's has an older diner type feel to it, like a typical family owned restaurant. Its clean, the staff was very friendly, and service is quick. While I was here, I would say that the restaurant was about 50% capacity, so not too busy but definitely steady. I didn't catch my server's name but she looked to be the youngest one on staff this morning, and I have no complaints about her. I ordered the Tex Mex Skillet with no onions and a coffee. My order came back exact, no errors. People were walking around regularly asking about coffee refills, which was nice. They have an ATM on site. If you live in Danville, then hopefully you already know about this place. If you're traveling through, be sure to check it out. I would absolutely recommend this place.
When I go to a restaurant, my standard is polite service, relative timeliness, and accuracy of the order. Believe it or not it's difficult to achieve all three, especially when I'm driving around. Rich's Deluxe Restaurant absolutely...
Read moreThe location is very convenient, and unlike a fair bit of downtown, is located across from a parking lot. The selection of food is surprisingly large, but at the same time very "American diner standard". The addition of loud, annoying, neon virtual slot machines that generally get the constant attention of bored ownership and staff rather than customers is extremely grating while in use and doesn't fit with the otherwise calm and tidy-looking atmosphere. environment.
Edit: In the last year or so they've made several changes, including the removal of the "fresh bread and herb butter on every table" that used to be what drew me here in the first place, and the staff has gotten far less courteous and seem much more poorly trained in customer service now. This has caused me to change my previous 4-Star rating to a 1-Star rating, as I won't be returning (I now already have a headache from the incessant slot machine noises).
Also, I write this, I was just served a cold Tex-Mex Skillet (...in a bowl), if that tells you anything about the declining...
Read moreNice quaint place to stop in to eat. The atmosphere was quite, clean and had a dinner feel to it I guess you would say. It felt like it was set back in time somewhat. Not outdated, but with history. The service was good and so was the food. We had salad bar and sandwiches/fries. I had a roast beef with ajus sauce and my husband had the Italian. I wasn't able to eat but half my sandwich with the salad bar (one trip) and most my fries. Its become pretty hard to find restaurants that have salad bar anymore, so it was nice to see they have one. It is not a large bar, lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, banana peppers, cucumbers, eggs, Mac salad, croutons, bacon bits, crazons, sunflower seeds, etc I know there were some other things I'm leaving off. I believe they had 4-5 dressings to choose from also. It had most of your basic salad things. This was our first time to Danville so we had no knowledge about places to eat, but we would most likely...
