Danville seems to be the town the hotel industry forgot. There are only two hotels in Danville, the Best Western and the Days Inn which is even worse than the Best Western. So without any competition, this hotel has been neglected for the past 20+ years that we've been staying there while in Danville. On the plus side, it has a bigger than usual mini-fridge with a freezer to keep your blue/Yeti ice frozen, great location, decent sized room, working adjustable desk chair, full length mirror, cable TV with some live programming. On the negative side, the hotel is not terribly clean and has a neglected feel to it. A few examples of which I've included pictures are the badly damaged door lock area and damage to the door itself (missing door protector), the door rarely locked (we had to go to the front desk almost every time we left the room to have the clerk lock the door for us, transition molding on the floor coming apart, stained towels, obstruction making it impossible to fully open the closet door, a very frumpy poorly upholstered couch, bundles of cords exposed, not enough receptacles to plug in the lamp, coffee maker and microwave at the same time. All of these could be fixed in less than an hour total by a handyman, yet year after year, they go neglected. For some crazy reason, the regular sized TV is in the bedroom (but no chairs in the bedroom so you have to sit at the end of the bed 18" from the screen) and a very small TV in the living room area. Service staff is generally not eager to please customers other than the maid who was very nice and helpful. We were there three nights and even after asking at the front desk was only allowed one coffee pod per person per day and only one tiny half bottle of water per person for the entire stay. So, platinum members need to bring their own water and coffee pods. We were in a hurry on one day so tried the breakfast. Every table had crumbs on them and the trash bin was over flowing yet, there was a clerk at the desk ignoring it all. We used napkins and hot water from the tea dispenser to wash one of the tables. Hotel eggs are rarely good but these were the worst we've ever encountered; completely tasteless and the texture of soggy sponge cake. The coffee was not good (worse than the pods in the room). There was a bug infestation outside our window every time the sun came out which I suggested to the desk clerk to spray some Raid or something of that nature to the outside window because dozens of the bugs somehow were getting into our room. The bugs were slow and easily crushed but it was just a bit unsettling to have bugs crawling all over the inside of the windows and curtains. Her reply was "I'll get to it when I have some free time" which I guess she never had because the next day when the sun came out the window was again covered in bugs outside and inside.|So, as bad as this sounds, the only other hotel in Danville is worse. Every time we stay here, I say "never again". I think this time it is the last time. Unfortunately, that means staying somewhere else inconveniently located about 10 miles outside of Danville...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE! I booked our handicap room a month in advance. When we arrived, the front entrance smelled of urine. I registered and received our keys, as the front desk person was friendly-ish she proceeded to tell me the best way to get to our room. I went out to get our stuff, and my mother who is handicapped. After our 5 hour drive. Once in the room I had to clean the bathroom door because it was filthy, but the rest of the room was clean-ish, but is absolutely not a handicap room thank God we brought a raised toilet seat with us because they have a regular seat and a flimsy chair on the side of the tub. We put our stuff in the room and went to get a sandwich at subway across the street. When we got back to the room to settle in for the night at approximately 7p.m. We kept hearing a loud bang about every 5 to 10 minutes and the wall would shake. We could not figure it out, but there is a door that they allow people to use that SLAMS shut. That noise stopped around 9:55p.m. When I went to lock the door the safety lock was absolutely unsecure. The lock is barely screwed in, it is screwed into a piece of trim and not into the door frame. Needless to say we got ZERO sleep that night. Then, at 4a.m. the banging of the door next to my head started again. We ended up staying the next night too because there was another shady place down the street we could've probably got a room, but it looked worse. When we checked out I told the front desk person, and she could've cared less about the issues, and she ACTUALLY lied to my face and said she has NEVER had a complaint about the slamming door. I should've read more reviews, and so should she. The laundry room and staff storage is also next to room 118 so you get to hear all the slamming and banging from them and their horrible conversations. I didn't get my money back for the first night, but they should for sure return my money. They own a Baymont hotel (which we found outside of town about 10 miles) DO NOT STAY THERE EITHER it looks...
Read moreHere's my honest review :) We had a good stay overall. The inside is newly remodeled. Our room was nice and clean. The only issues (not even really issues..just things I wished were different and why I'm only giving 4 stars) were that there was no elevator...so this meant multiple trips up and down stairs to carry in luggage and unfortunately there were quite a few people checking in so it was a bit congested. If you have a lot of luggage or large suitcase like us as we travel for work or if you have a family member who can't climb steps this could be an issue..and it makes it rough after a long day.. Also, they don't have comforters/duvets on the beds which I thought was a tad strange. They only have sheets and these thin felt type blankets..I got cold and ended up asking for another blanket and the kind gentleman at the desk provided me one. The ladies in the morning were also nice and helpful. For the price it was worth it overall. If we were passing through we would more than...
