Service is good & quick! The seafood buffet is fresh, cooked and seasoned well. Most of it is fried, would really like to see grilled or scampi syle like shrimp & scallops. The sides are okay, nothing special. Salad bar is decent but the lettuce mix was on it's last day to be edible. The macaroni & cheese was not good; noodles were mushy & the cheese sauce had broken, having hard bits of cheese clumps. The crab balls, shrimp, fish & clam strips were my favorites. You must try a biscuit, so very good. Dessert options are good, banana pudding, yellow cake with a delicious chocolate icing, strawberry cake with very sweet but yummy strawberry icing, chocolate pudding & chocolate chip cookies. Our drinks were never less than half. It is amazing how the staff keeps the drinks filled, buffet filled & fresh, getting tables cleaned & customers moving. All of this is done in a very small space. Every room is way undersized. Getting to the buffet is a hassle, especially if you're sat in one of the two side areas. There's no central AC, wall units only. It was rather warm in there, thankfully it was overcast on summer day. The restrooms are very small & unpleasant, harder to get to than the food. While overall the food was good, I don't know if I would go back to the buffet again because of the difficulty getting around inside, lack of non-fried & the price at $50 person (with soda & tax). *warning, not wheelchair/walker friendly. Read moreWe were at a foster parent convention on beautiful Jekyll Island and decided to look for an all you can eat buffet. We had heard of a place about 30 miles away from a fellow foster parent but he couldn't remember anything else other than when you signed in the place would get your phone number and text you when it was your time. After searching online I found B&Js. We drove the distance and pulled into the small parking lot with cars overflowing and decided even if it wasn't the same place that was recommended that it had to be great. I gave my name and number and proceeded to wait among the crowd. We chatted with a precious older couple that were locals. They highly recommended that we stay. We were told the wait would be long (we knew it would be). I jokingly told the lady that if we were called first and had a big enough table we would let them sit with us. They actually were called first and they allowed us to sit with their family. This was perhaps the BEST seafood we have ever tried. The crab legs were cooked perfectly. Everything we had on the buffet was equally delicious. The staff was amazingly friendly and the local people was so welcoming. Too bad B&Js is a 5+hour drive from our...
Read moreWe got off the freeway in search of food at 1:30 on a Wed. Since we were making good time, we decided to pass by the franchise fast food in search of good food and a break. B & J's is so nondescript a building, we would never have noticed it--except for all the cars. What the heck we figured, that's a good sign. While the decor is virtually nonexistent, the food and service were simply outstanding. We sat in what I guess is an addition to the original building--no windows, paneling on the walls, mismatched tables. The restaurant was almost full with a wide variety of customers, and there was a steady flow of folks. We didn't try the buffet, which actually look really good. I had a grilled chicken sandwich which was perfectly cooked, nice fresh bun, wonderful ripe, juicy and flavorful tomato slices. We also had grilled chicken strips (big portion, again perfectly cooked and seasoned), and a Philly Steak sandwich--also great. Even the fries were outstanding, crispy on the outside, light and flavorful on the inside. In my travels, I have paid 3 times as much for a chicken sandwich which was 1/4th as good. I hope they can keep it up, we'll stop there again anytime we're...
