A Friday dinner in the Village with friends was great. What makes a Friday dinner better? Ice cream, of course! I'd mentioned the last time I was in the Village Here's the Scoop had been closed and I'd wanted to try it. Now was the time to experience it!
The shop is small and brightly colored. Benches line half the space, with backs constructed of skis (boards? other snow sliding accessories? I don't really know...). The floor is a very shiny new wood laminate and the overhead is covered in a white drop ceiling with a combination fluorescent and suspended dome light fixtures. It all looks clean, bright, and happy, like an ice cream parlor should.
I opted for a scoop of orange pineapple for my evening dessert. I Don't know why I expected it to be sorbet, but was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be actual ice cream! It had the fruity flavor I desired out of the dessert with all the smoothness expected of an artisanal ice cream. So nice!
Given the relatively small size of the Village of East Davenport, I can easily envision this particular night happening again. Dinner, followed by ice cream at this place. I look forward to the next trip back. Thanks,...
Read moreI LOVE Hereâs The Scoop! But I have a MAJOR complaint. The past FIVE times (literally) there is NEVER any of the Goat Cheese and Cherries. (I usual buy pints but, even will buy the large ones if thatâs all there is) So whatâs the problem? Iâm pretty sure thatâs your number one selling ice cream so you would think with it being a holiday weekend (Labor Day) you would make extra especially with all the business thatâs brought into the Quad Cities with the racing in Rock Island and the motorcycle rally at the fairgrounds. I was even willing to pay 40$ for a half gallon and NOTHING. So can I be put on a call list or is there some way I can sign up to receive an alert for when itâs available?!! Then I asked when it would be available and was told âshe made cherries today so probably two⌠and I said days? And the other worker goes probably next week?! So what is really going on? I understand how expensive it is to make and I have no problem paying for it and I donât think anyone else does either. So can someone please tell me what I have to do to get my favorite ice...
Read moreThree of us stopped by on a Saturday (April 5) evening at 5:30. It was very busy and I believe short-staffed. It happens and was not an issue for us. The reason Iâm leaving feedback is because the young lady behind the counter deserves praise. As she was serving ice cream, someone needed help on the candy side. She had to hop over there to take care of that and then come back to continue serving ice cream to a long line of people waiting. She was apologetic, even though it was not an issue for us. This young lady seemed to be running both sides of the shop alone, and she handled it with professionalism and cheerfulness. This was our first time, and we will definitely be back! Also, the salty caramel with caramel sauce...
