Rudy's Tacos is a Quad Cities institution, one that I enjoy more now that I've moved back to the area. When growing up, I don't think I ever made it over to this location in the Village. Since I was already in the area on this particular night and wanted tacos, I decided this was the opportune time to stop in visit this Rudy's.
The interior is to the style one would expect from visiting other Rudy's tacos locations. The walls are light beige in most locations, evoking a pseudo adobe sort of look. This pairs well with wood fixtures and ceiling supports, which are a stained dark color. The lighting is supplied by a combination of accent lighting and suspended ceramic fixtures, the overall effect of which is low, comfortable lighting throughout the space. In short - I like the look that Rudy's has developed.
I sat at the bar to eat some tacos alone. Shortly after sitting down, the bartender gave me a menu and made me my requested drink, a Tanqueray and Tonic. The drink was perfect - exactly what I wanted and needed in a Gin & Tonic. I ordered and quickly received four street tacos, two made with pork, two of steak, all with corn tortillas. These tacos were fantastic! I'd only ever had hard shell American tacos from Rudy's before, which are always great. I would, however, come back to eat these street tacos over and over again. They were fresh and light all at once and everything I otherwise would want out of a simple street taco.
If I were to return to the Village of East Davenport, I would go to this Rudy's again. Thanks for being a great part of the Quad...
Read moreUnfortunately, Rudy's Tacos left a lot to be desired. This was our first and more than likely our last visit. I gave two stars because the atmosphere was good, the wait staff was freindly, and the beer was cold. As for the food, i would give 1 star. We ordered chips and salsa with a side of queso for an appetizer as they do not serve chips and salsa unless you order it. Charging for the chips and salsa would be fine if the salsa was fresh. My first bite of salsa was pure disappointment as it was dished from a jar. What mexican restaurant doesn't make their own salsa? On top of the salsa being sub-par, the queso chz dip had spinach in it... who serves queso cheese dip with spinach? If i wanted spinach dip, i wouldn't be ordering mexican food. To be fair, our kids liked the queso, but i was not a fan. My wife and i split the grilled chicken nachos and after my first bite of chicken, i was surprised as the chicken is the same pre-made, fake, processed chicken you would expect from subway or Taco bell. After all was said and done, we left highly...
Read moreTo start I normally go to this restaurant once a week or everywhere week with family or friends and had never had any issues with them before but after the extremely rude service I encountered today I think I'll have to find a new place to go after over 10 years of eating there.
Today I ordered off doordash and this was the description of what I ordered versus what I got. I called with the intention of trying to see if they would make it correct because normally this location has had great service and the staff has always been polite. But tonight the lady who answered the phone was rude and refused to listen. Rather than hearing me out or offering to fix the issue she claimed everything was my own fault and that it doesn't matter what the litteral description of the food was and that the order was apparently not what they saw so it doesn't matter what I got. They didn't offer to make anything correct and more or less just blew me off. Which is sad because this was the last good...
