This is a little off the beaten path and away from my normal hang outs. I'd mostly explored the cafes and coffee joints around Bettendorf over the last few weeks, however, so I decided to take my work laptop for some Sunday catch-up and head across Davenport for something new and different.
The Coffee Revolution is definitely new to me in many ways, but there were plenty of the normal trappings and features present in an independent coffee house, as well. The space is very open and has ample seating between a few tables, a high top bar with accompanying stools, but also several very comfy couches and chairs. I'm always happy to find a cushy spot into which to sink and type away within, so this was a major plus.
Many of the same accents and architectural features in the QC area adorn this space, as well. There's no drop ceiling here, leaving the true ceiling and wood supports, all painted white, visible to anyone glancing upward. The HVAC ductwork is similarly on display, with this particular setup consisting of cylindrical ducts and associated diffusers running from the back of the space towards runs diverging at a tee just before the windows of the storefront, gradually reducing in diameter along the way. Between the ductwork's plain grey metallic surface, the white plenum area, the blue/grey painted walls and the incandescent lighting fixtures dropping from the ceiling throughout the space, there's a certain softness to the whole aesthetic. As I was here through the early evening, this only continued as the sun continued lowering.
The music playing also complimented the mood well. The baristas were playing soft indie pop the entire time I was visiting (a band called Peach Pit, I think?). It was at a volume well suited to quiet conversation and study/work - exactly what I needed during my visit. I dig it when places know their audience and nail this part of their ambiance. It really adds to the whole experience and ties everything together well.
After some conversation with one of the baristas about the available selection of teas, I ended up going with a pink lemonade flavored herbal tea mixed with lemonade. Bit of a strange Arnold Palmer of sorts, no? Well it worked just fine - the drink was tart without being overly sweet. I also selected an iced sugar cookie, supplied by cookies by design. This didn't really pair well with the tea, but was a fine enough thing to snack on during my visit (that's more my fault anyway - sugar cookie with lemonade...).
If I lived in the area, I'd probably stop back again. But I don't so I probably won't be back soon, unfortunately. If you're around this part of Davenport, I'd highly recommend stopping by this place. After they get their internet working, I'm sure it will be a great space to crank through some school or work work. Thanks...

Big thanks to the owner for leaving me at $15 gift card! I am happy to report I have been in twice and really enjoyed both drinks....The Conan O' Brien latte and the Peanut Butter Blast Latte. Highly recommend both of those! Thank you to The Coffee Revolution for being awesome!
Highly disappointed with my last visit. The cashier was super friendly BUT the latte I ordered was absolutely horrible. I was a little hesitant to order it....an apple butter latte doesn't sound that great. It was recommended by the baristas so I figured I'd give it a try. It was chunky and absolutely undrinkable. I've always added whipped cream to my lattes so I'm not sure why this one was extra chunky but it was a little bothersome. I've only been to this location one other time but that other time, the latte was one of the best I have ever tried. Feeling a little down about leaving a bad review but it was a mistake to order the Apple Butter latte. The peanut butter latte is absolutely amazing though....
Read moreAsked for a hot matcha latte, "as hot as you can make it" and it still just came out barely lukewarm... 2 minutes later and it's not even an enjoyable temp for me. I want to enjoy my expensive coffee drink for a while (that I consider a treat for myself), I don't want to have to slam it before it gets cold. That's why I asked for it super hot... If they would have told me that they can't make it that hot, I would have probably just ordered something iced instead. I don't often write reviews under five stars but come on guys, is it too much too ask for a hot drink, especially when I specifically ask for it? I will probably not return if I can't get hot...
