I don’t normally leave reviews, but this experience was so bizarre and unprofessional I felt it needed to be shared.
I walked into Rosso’s with no line and went straight to the counter. The gentleman let me know there would be a 20 to 25 minute wait. I said no problem.
I asked to order the Dubai Chocolate Latte, and a second employee quickly jumped in to say it would actually take 45 minutes. I asked, calmly with a small chuckle, “45 minutes for coffee?” She explained that she had four pages of orders ahead of mine and that this particular drink takes longer to make because of the melted chocolate and pistachio paste. I said, “Okay, that’s fine.”
Then out of nowhere, she told me she didn’t feel comfortable serving me and was refusing to take my order.
Let me be very clear. I asked one polite question. I didn’t raise my voice. I didn’t argue. I didn’t show any attitude. I simply asked why the drink would take that long, listened to the explanation, and said it was fine. The only reason she gave for refusing service was that I was “making her uncomfortable.”
The other employee behind the counter just stared at me blankly while it all happened. No one stepped in. No one explained. No one apologized.
Before anyone makes assumptions, let me also say this. I am incredibly kind, I smile, and I fully understand that small businesses get overwhelmed and need time to get orders out. I was willing to wait. I said that more than once. I was not impatient or rude in any way.
After reading other one-star reviews, it seems that long wait times are a recurring issue at this shop. My guess is that she assumed I was going to leave a bad review because of the wait time. Ironically, I wouldn’t have. I accepted the delay without complaint. The only reason I’m writing this now is because of how wildly unprofessional it was to be refused service over a calm and reasonable question.
Also worth noting, they were out of all sandwiches.
I left and went straight to Whole Latte Monkeys, where I was greeted with kindness and served happily without any issue. The difference in customer experience was night and day.
I fully expect the owner to respond defensively, as she seems to do on many one-star reviews. But I stand by every word. A little basic customer service training would go a...
Read moreI really tried to like this place, I'm local and I'm trying to support local, not you know who. I went there twice because the ambiance was so pretty and nice, the first time was bad but the second time was worse than the first. The coffee is sub par (please don't try to pass this as high quality ingredients, I saw the great value products in the back). Who ever the barista was does a great job at gas lighting, she had me waiting around for over 45mins. I ordered three drinks, after waiting about 20 mins I got a text that my drinks were ready, got to the window, ONLY 1 of 3 was actually ready. She said they are working on the rest, so naturally we wait right in front of the window. 10 mins later..more people come to the window and are walking away with similar drinks to the ones we ordered (it was a prefix menu no substitutes). I ask again, gaslit again with a hint of condescendence. 25mins later I had to come back to the window and they ended up giving me another person's drinks because they saw I was mad and it just seemed like they forgot all about my order. I understand that good things take time, THIS is not one of those things worth waiting for. I don't know who the main customer base is, maybe those who like to sit around and waste time waiting for mid coffee? In that case you guys are doing great!
Update: Yes you do use Great Value products, I would not have posted the picture if you wouldn’t have blatantly lied in your response. Your notification system is clearly broken and needs to be revisited. This review was based on my second visit and there was hardly 100 ppl there. Again, the menu was prefixed and the drink tickets were purchased in advanced, so you must have had some clue of how many ppl would be in attendance otherwise the management system is also broken and needs to be revisited. The issue was clear and apparent at the time but your staff decided to gaslight me and be rude.
Finally, the fact that you mentioned Starbucks as a comparison as a better option shows that you have no class and clearly don’t know about quality coffee. Good luck with your little...
